You are a great vessel

A vessel is a container that usually holds a hot liquid. The Bible says “Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.” (2 Timothy 2:21). We are called to be vessels for the Lord. We are called to be containers that can hold the Lord’s hot liquid. Vessels that have the fire of the Holy Spirit in them. A vessel can also be a bottle and bottles usually hold cold liquids. A perfume bottle is a vessel. The question is, are we vessels that the Lord can use? Are we containing the fire and the zeal of the Holy Spirit or are we bottles of cold water? Some of us think that God can only use people with a lot of faith as vessels. The truth is we can all be vessels and we can all be used mightily by the Lord.

You are the vessel the Lord is looking for. You have what it takes to be used by God and to have an impact on the world for His glory. You don’t need anything more to be all that the Lord wants you to be. All you need is to be willing and to be available. The Lord wants an open heart. A heart that will yield to His will. A heart that beats only for Him. A heart that is ready to get closer to His heart. You do not need special qualifications. Come as you are and let the Lord know you want to be used. There is so much the Lord can do through you. There are many people He can reach through you. If you have seen yourself as “unusable”, I suggest you say a quick prayer telling the Lord that you are willing and open to whatever He wants you to do and to be. How do you become a hot vessel for the Lord?

Whatever you put in a vessel is what is going to characterize it. The quality of the product you put in varies. As a Christian you have received the Holy Spirit. He dwells in you. However, there needs to be a refilling of the Spirit. This is what is described in the book of Acts. In chapter 2 when the believers were gathered and they received the Holy Spirit, power came on them and they started speaking in tongues. With the power of the Holy Spirit comes zeal, fervor and enthusiasm for the Lord. We can link this to the fire of the Holy Spirit. God wants to fill us with His fire. He wants to pour His Spirit in us so that we are hot containers that hold His love and His presence. The Holy Spirit is in the Word of God. He is in praise and worship. He is in prayer time. We need to keep all of these wonderful activities going so that we get replenished with the Spirit. Let’s empty ourselves of the world so there is room for the Spirit of God. Whatever we put the most in our container will reveal what type of vessel we are. Don’t put junk in your container! You are a great vessel and God is going to use you!
