Affordable living

Do you ever think about what you can’t afford? Do you ever say to yourself, “I wish I could afford this and that?” Do you ever think you can’t afford a good living? You can afford a life of triumphs, victory, peace and overcoming. Jesus paid the price so you could afford a priceless life. He paid the price for a life where love wins, peace abounds and blessings are always present. Jesus conquered death on the cross. Jesus made it affordable for you to have an amazing life. Life in Christ is a life of hope and joy. You can afford that life at no cost. The Lord provided salvation and it is the best life you could have. Salvation is for here and now. It is not for later when you go and be with the Lord. The eternal life that was purchased at a high price is available today. You are living your best life now through Christ. You might say, “So how come I am facing so much opposition? How come I have so many trials and tribulations?”

Jesus said that in this life we would have trials and tribulations but we should be of good cheer because He has conquered the world. His life of salvation juxtaposed itself over the trials and the tribulations. Your daily trials and troubles don’t take away from the work that was done on the cross. You are still saved and you are still blessed. It is during those tough times that you need to hold on to the promise of a great life. Your life in Christ doesn’t take a break when the going gets tough. You can still claim victory. You can still claim blessings. You can still claim that you have an amazing life in Christ. You are highly blessed and highly favored. Don’t let today’s trials steal your peace and your joy. They will try. They will make you think that you are cursed or that you have a bad life. The battle is in your thinking. The battle is in your heart. When life wages war on the inside, be sure to speak victory and to speak Jesus over everything. That is when you experience victory on the inside and it shows on the outside.

Keep working on maintaining peace on the inside. Keep praying. Keep praising. Don’t give up. Jesus won. Your victory is here. Those thoughts of defeat and those bad circumstances won’t get the best of you unless you let them take away your faith. The promises of the Lord still stand so stand in faith. Faith is not easy but it is achievable in the worst conditions because during your worst times, Jesus is still your best bet. Rely on Him. Proclaim that you can afford peace. Proclaim that you can afford joy. You don’t have to pay for any of it. Jesus will always foot the bill. The only sacrifice you need to make is the sacrifice of praise. Praise can seem like a sacrifice when it is hard to praise God because of your difficulties. However, you have the assistance of the Holy Spirit. Start praising the Lord even if you don’t feel like it and you will see the beautiful life you have thanks to Christ.  He is the best part of your life. He is your life. He is the affordable life you have and He is not going to make you pay for anything.

Don’t let anyone and anything make you think that you can’t afford a good life. You have Jesus. You have all you need. His love is out of this world and it makes your life a living Heaven. Through thick and thin, Jesus is with you. He does life with you and He blesses you. You are highly loved and highly valued by the King of Kings. Thank Him for the life He gave you. This life is permanent. This life is full of amazing possibilities and great opportunities will always roll in. Stand your ground. Stay strong in your faith. Enjoy life in Christ every day. You can afford the peace that surpasses all understanding and the joy that is your strength. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Put it all in God’s hands

Your fears, your suffering, your anxiety, your doubts, your problems, your shortcomings. Put them all in God’s hands. Go to the Lord in prayer and give Him all the negativity that has been gnawing on your life. All the bad thoughts need to go. All the bad feelings need to go. All the tension needs to go. Give them all to the Lord. Turn them over to Him. Do it every day. Do it when you pray. Do it with your praise. Do it with your worship. Do it with your thanksgiving. Give it all to God. Do not hold on to the “bad gifts” from the enemy. Don’t accept them. Don’t open them and stare at them.

Don’t entertain the “bad gifts.” Send them back to the sender. Refuse to live in bondage. Refuse to live in fear. Refuse to live with the weight of the oppression of the enemy. The Lord wants you to go to Him and give Him your heavy burdens. God’s hands are big enough to hold all your problems and dispose of all of them. There is nothing you can ask the Lord to take from you that He won’t take. Trust Him. Rely on Him. Put it all in His hands. God has infinitely more than you can expect. He wants your troubles and your difficulties. He can get rid of your troubles and your difficulties. Go to the Lord with your full heart of despair and He will give you a heart filled with hope!

Go to the Lord in prayer. There is nothing that you can tell the Lord that He hasn’t heard or that He doesn’t know how to solve. Your current problems might be new difficulties to you. They might be horrible things you have never experienced before but it doesn’t mean that the Lord doesn’t know how to take care of your situation. Put your circumstances in His hands. Say a simple prayer. Say a prayer of surrender. Say a prayer of trust and faith. Tell Him that you can’t do it on your own and He will own your problems. He will take them and He will delete them from your life. It might not happen overnight but it will happen in the name of Jesus.

The moment you turn to the Lord by giving Him your trials, the victory is set in motion. The cross is where your problem was nailed. Now it’s through your faith in the Lord that you receive the victory. It will come. Your problems will get solved. Keep your eyes on the cross knowing that it is the end of your misery. Put all the heaviness on the Lord. His yoke is light. His burden is light. He will trade your burden for something beautiful and light. You don’t have to live this way. Live God’s way by giving Him what is getting in your way!

Every morning I declare that my life is in God’s hands. Every day I declare that God is in control. Every day I thank the Lord for taking care of my life. Every day I go to the Lord with songs of praise and thanksgiving. Every day I give my burdens to the Lord. His mercies are new every day and so are the burdens of the enemy but his burdens don’t trump God’s mercies. God’s mercies are amazing drops of love from Heaven. Each drop wipes away the dirt put on our lives by the low blows of the enemy. Remember that greater is the Lord that is in you than the devil that is in this world.

Greater is the love that is in you than the hate that is in this world. Greater is the solution that is in you than the problems that are in this world. Greater are the hands of the Lord than the arms of torture of the enemy. Whatever you are going through right now, put it all in God’s hands. His hands are where your answers are. Trust God with everything and He will bless you in everything. Stay strong. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Going back home

With everything that is going on in our lives, it’s easy to step away from God to attend to the affairs of life. We are invited to pray without ceasing and to thank God all the time. This great invitation is not always received. There are days when life keeps us busy and we miss the invitation. We have to take care of x, y and z and we don’t have time for the a, b,c’s of our faith. The basics of our faith take a backseat and when we have time for God again we find it hard to connect with Him again. I have been there. I have ignored the invitation and I have made myself a guest of other venues and sometimes a guest of not the best places. What I am learning is that carving time for God through the busy times is not only possible but it is primordial.

“Busy” happens to all of us but it shouldn’t prevent us from making God our priority. When we go astray or when we walk away from the daily invitation to communicate with God, there is hope for a comeback. We are never too far gone that we can’t come home. Home will always wait for us. God is our home and He is always waiting with open arms. The enemy will try to make us feel guilty and he will tell us that we have gone too far from God and there is no way home. That is a lie. There is always a way back home to the Lord. Today I want to encourage you to believe and trust that God is still welcoming you and that your busy life is not a make it or break it factor. God is with you when you are busy and when you have time for Him. Take the time to acknowledge Him in all you do!

When you are so busy that you can’t have any “God time”, you might start to feel like God is far. You might think that He has abandoned you or that He is nowhere to be found. The reality is that He has been there the whole time and you can always tap into His love and His goodness. The key here like I said is to acknowledge Him in all we do. It takes only a few words of acknowledgement. Before entering a busy period, we can thank the Lord for always being there for us. We can thank Him for the work He has provided and for taking care of our lives. I love to tell Him that He is the best part of my life and He is with me through thick and thin.

I am on His mind even when my mind is a thousand miles away from Him. He is by my side even when I decide to sit with other people and entertain other situations. He is my best situation. He is the best part of every day and I whisper that into His heart silently throughout the day. A whisper, a sigh, a short word is all it takes. Repetition is necessary so that my mind is more aware of His never ending presence. I go home every day at the end of the day. I go home to God every day at the end of the day. I do my best to speak to Him during the day and I make sure I spend quality time with Him at the end of the day.

Going back home is a daily habit so going to God is a daily habit as well. I know in my mind and in my spirit that I will always make time for God at some point. This helps me shut up the enemy when he tells me that I don’t give enough time for God and He will punish me for that. God is love. God is the essence of love. Nothing we do can separate us from His love. We need to step away from the guilt and from the negative feelings the enemy wants us to experience. God is always ready to take us back so to speak but we have to remember that life gets busy and God understands that we have to take care of business. I used to feel so depleted when I didn’t have time for God. I used to feel spiritually drained when I didn’t have time to pray. The problem was coming from my mind. The way I perceived the whole thing was wrong. My mind had the wrong approach.

The truth was that I could always have my going back home moment and God wasn’t mad at me. He gave me the life I had and He rejoiced over me and over my life. What mattered was that I was always going back home. I didn’t choose to go to places that would alienate me even more. Friend, God is always there and we need to see Him as the Father that He is. He is a Father who is always excited when we come home. If you have been away from home for a long time, trust that the way home is paved with peace, love and acceptance. God will always accept you and love you. Go home every day and go home even if you have been away for a long season. God will always welcome you home. May God bless you and protect you and remember He will always love you!

Anything can still happen

A few years ago I wrote a message called  ‘Anything (good) can happen.” It was about how the Lord can do anything at any time. I talked about the hope we should have in the possibility of a change and a blessing from the Lord. It has been three years or so but today the Lord reminded me that He can still do anything. I make that declaration often but today I was brought back to that old message and I could see its validity and how it is still relevant today. Anything can still happen. How many times do you need to hear that? How many times have we drifted in our faith and started thinking that maybe good things can’t happen anymore? We think that we have reached our quota and God is done with it for now or for good. God has an unlimited supply of goodness and He can give us more than we expect.

If you are waiting for a miracle or a breakthrough, know that anything can happen. That old message will never change. It actually is new every day. Every morning new mercies are available. New blessings and new miracles can happen. New breakthroughs and new good breaks can come your way. You have Jesus as your Savior so you are a magnet for miracles waiting to happen. Not because of who you are but because of the One in you. Because of Him great things can happen to you. Let faith open you up to the great opportunities and the great things that the Lord has for you. Just because you are going through a tornado of bad breaks doesn’t mean that the Lord can’t put the brakes on what is going on. He can make anything bad stop and replace it with something that will make you forget that you went through a bad patch.

God is going to do the impossible. Think about that. Add that truth to your “thinking bank” and bank on it. You can count on Him to do things that are beyond what the world can do. You can count on Him to change situations completely and restore what was taken. You can count on Him to open doors that seemed to be reserved for others. You can count on Him to give you more than what the devil had stolen from you. You can count on Him to do things that only God can do. You will find amazing accounts of what He does in His Word and He promised that if you trust Him, He would do even greater things and you could do even greater things in the name of Jesus.

Anything can still happen to you, friend. Any blessing can still knock at your door. Any miracle can still be in the pipeline of your life. You are going to receive from God. Whatever you need can and will come so stay in faith. Keep your hopes up and look to the Son of God. Nothing is impossible to the one who believes. Be that one who believes and you will experience miracle after miracle. Jesus is your Savior and He adores you. I am excited to see what He is going to do in your life. My prayer is that you stand the course and keep believing. He is going to part the seas of your life. He is going to turn your water into wine. He is going to give you the peace that you need and add joy to it. God has no limitations so don’t limit Him in your head. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He always loves you!

You can make someone happy today

As believers we are vessels. We are vessels of the Lord. Vessels that receive from the Lord and vessels that pour into others. We are not meant to keep what God gives us all to ourselves. We are meant to be “pourers” and “distributors.” God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. God gave. We are His followers and giving is in our DNA and it should be a reflex. It should be a way of life and a habit that never gets old. I spent a long time waiting to receive and to get from God without thinking about giving. I felt like I had had so many bad events in my life that after a while it was my turn to get some good news and to be blessed. I saw myself as a recipient of God’s love and nothing else.

The problem was that God never intended for me to keep all that He was giving me. I missed the mark. I got confused. I misunderstood love. Love is selfless. Love is kind and love is giving. You and I have a lot to give. You and I have the power to make others happy, to encourage them and to bless them. We ought to use that power and walk in it knowing that Jesus is our provider and anyone and everyone can benefit from receiving from Him. We are the vessels that can make things happen for others. We are the vessels that contain the love, the joy and the peace that this world needs. We can make someone happy. We can make someone experience love. We can pour into lives all around us. There is someone around you that needs the Jesus who lives in you.

Greater is the Lord that lives in us than the enemy that lives in the world. Greater is the love that lives in us than the hate that lives in the world. Jesus is more powerful than anything that is negative in this world. We have the love and the power that it takes to make a difference in our world. What we need to do is to be aware of the love in ius. We need to be aware of Jesus in us. It is easy to ignore Him and to go about our day without thinking about the love, the truth and the light that dwells in us. We can’t give what we don’t know we have. Some of us are powerhouses of the Lord on Sunday and then we are “empty vessel minded” the rest of the week when in reality we are containers of the Lord.

We need to change our perspective and our perception of the Lord. We have Him all the time but if we don’t put faith in that truth, it will not do us any good. I want to encourage you to remind yourself that you are a child and that His love is in you. It is there to bless you and to bless others. You have what it takes to touch someone with God’s love and to make someone’s day by pouring into their lives what Jesus has given you. Think about the fruit of the Spirit. It is there and it can be shared. Give the fruit to the people in your life who are hungry for love, thirsty for a cup of peace and longing for joy.

I am learning that it is primordial for me to let the love of the Lord and all the other fruit of the Spirit grow in me. Joy is my strength and I cultivate it and let it blossom. It is a fruit that can sow seeds of happiness wherever I go. In my daily interactions with people, I see a strong need for peace and for joy. People are craving peace. People need a break from the worry and the suffering. People need a moment. People need a moment with Jesus and you and I can give them that moment. We don’t need to get on our soapbox and preach with words they won’t understand. We can preach with our actions. Our time is a great sermon. When we give people the gift of time and attention, we show them love. The Holy Spirit knows how to make everyone happy and how to give people joy.

My suggestion is that you pray daily and ask the Spirit of the Lord to guide you and to reveal to you how you can make someone happy today. Listen to His beautiful whispers and go with what He says. There is someone close to you who hasn’t smiled in a while and you have the power to make him or her smile again. There is someone close to you who has never seen love in action and you have the power to minister love to them. Everyone you know has some type of need and the Lord knows how to meet that need. You can help. All you need is an open and willing heart and Jesus will do the rest. You can make someone happy today so don’t underestimate what the Lord has put in you. It is powerful and it will change someone’s day for the better. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

God is in your corner

God is in your corner. He is not against you and He is never abandoning you. I was watching a movie the other day and this woman told a very scared young man that she would be right there with him during an exam he was supposed to take. When I heard that it made me think of our Jesus is right there with us during every single exam and test that life brings our way. He is present and He never leaves the room. When the questions on our tests are getting difficult, He doesn’t leave through the back door and says, “Good luck, you’re on your own.” He sticks around. He helps. He counsels. He gives us peace. There is no place in the world you can be where the Lord is not with you. The Bible tells us clearly that nothing can separate us from God’s love. Nothing can come between you and God. He is always in the middle of everything. You might not see Him at first but if you seek His face you will find Him. When the pain is unbearable, the Lord’s face is hard to decipher but it is right there with you. When there is a lot of pressure at work, it can be challenging to see the Lord and to trust in His love but He is right there with you. He is in your corner and it doesn’t matter if the enemy is occupying the other three corners, all it takes is one corner. The Lord is standing there and watching over you. He will protect you from the attacks that are coming from the other angle. Look in His direction. Don’t ignore His corner. Find Him. He is there. He will never leave you nor forsake you!

I love hearing it when someone says that he or she is in my corner. It is reassuring and it is comforting. It means that I am not alone. That expression is usually used when someone is against us and our ally declares that he or she is with us despite the adversity. The Lord is saying that to you today. He is saying that it doesn’t matter what the opposition looks like, He is in your corner. He is backing you up and you have His undivided attention and support. I have lost sight of God’s help on numerous occasions but it never meant that He wasn’t there. Just because I got lost in my own fears and my own insecurities doesn’t mean that there was no hope and that faith couldn’t get me out of that mental confusion. Now, when I find myself struggling, I turn to the left or to the right and I find peace. The Lord wants to be the biggest One in the room. His corner is way larger than the other corners in our lives. Let’s not adhere to the lies of the enemy. He will always tell us that what he is doing is irreversible and that his hold on our lives is stronger than the hand of God. What the enemy does is make sure that he appears taller than he is but a few words from the Lord can put him back in his place. Speak God’s Word over your problems and the enemy will be reduced to a pile of nonsense in a tiny corner.

The idea of letting Jesus be the biggest One in the room was a message I received last year and it is still helping me today. Our lives are like big rooms that are busy and filled with many elements and details. Jesus should be the biggest detail in our lives. He should take up the most space. He should be the focus of our lives so when we look around the room all we see is Him. However, when we get overwhelmed by elements and details that are not from Him, we can easily panic and get scared. We can stay in a corner of the room and look around in fear. Jesus is with us in that corner. He is with us when we are cornered by the attacks and the schemes of the enemy. If you are stuck today and you are hiding in a corner of your life, remember that the Lord is right by your side and He is going to bless you and set you free. Your fears, your worries and your anxieties will disappear. Jesus is going to take them from you and get you back on your feet. That corner of distress is not your dwelling place. God is in your corner and you have great things to look forward to. Change is coming. Peace is coming. Freedom is coming. You are going to receive the joy of the Lord and it is your strength. Keep your eyes on Jesus and let Him be the biggest One in the room!

Nothing is impossible with God

I imagine you might be thinking that some things are just impossible. It is impossible for you to accomplish certain things and it is impossible for some things to happen in your life. I know I was there for a very long time. I used to think that some things were only meant for other people. I used to compare myself to others. I think it is a default setting that most of us have. It made my life miserable. I just felt inferior. I felt like a failure and I felt like life could not get any better. It was as if there were a wall that prevented me from getting blessings and from getting what others had naturally. I couldn’t get past that wall and I was in a prison. There was no door in that wall. That wall was insurmountable. Then I found the Lord and the wall came down. When I was first introduced to Jesus, I was introduced to the world of possibilities that is on the other side of the wall of impossibilities. Jesus was the answer to all my problems and he still is the answer today. To Him nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible and I had never met anyone like Him. He is the God of the impossible. He can truly do all things. The One who rose from the dead can do anything. Let that sink in. Your God, your Savior has the ability to do the impossible. Nothing can stop Him. Today I want to encourage you to trust in the God who can do the impossible and who can help you accomplish what seems impossible to you.

Jesus once said “With men it is impossible but with God everything is possible.” We have our limitations. We have our walls. Some new walls show up daily. Some walls have been there for a while. Some walls pop in and out of our lives. God is constant and His power to do the impossible never fails. The walls in our lives are not walls for Him. Let me say this again. The walls in our lives are not walls for the Lord. He is way above the highest walls you will ever face. He is so big that the walls are tiny compared to Him. Today you should be talking to the walls of limitations in your life. Talk to them in the name of Jesus. Tell them that with God nothing is impossible. Talk about the Cross. Talk about the blood of Jesus. Talk about the power of His resurrection. Talk about His ability and His power to do exceedingly more than you expect. Talk about Jesus to your walls. Don’t be silent. Don’t be passive. Be aggressive with the message of the Gospel. The message is that God loves you, His Son died for you and He came to set you free. You are getting free from those walls and you are about to get a breakthrough. The impossible is about to permeate your life and things are going to turn around. God says that nothing is impossible to Him and you believe it, you proclaim it and you are living it!

Good things can happen to you. Good things will happen to you in Jesus’ name. Open your mind to God’s possibilities and ignore the world’s impossibilities. Build your faith up in the impossible. Be open to God’s breakthroughs and to His love for you that can do anything. You might have had bad seasons and maybe you are in one now but know that the Lord can change your winter into a summer day in no time. He has no problem turning your world upside down for the best. The enemy is saying that now should be your time to suffer but the Lord is saying that His time to bless you is now and anything can happen. With Him “anything can happen” means that good things, surprisingly good things can take place in your life. You should also keep in mind that the voice that is telling you that everything is impossible, is a liar. There are many voices in our heads that are liars but we are so used to them that we trust them. Don’t trust the lies. Trust the Word of God that declares that the impossible is God’s forte. He specializes in the impossible. Read His Word and get inspired. Pray for the impossible and see what God does in your life. With Jesus the negative wall came down. Don’t live your life as if that wall still had power over your circumstances. It is gone. It came down with the Cross. Don’t put it back where it doesn’t belong. Let your faith keep it down and rejoice over the Lord’s goodness. Nothing is impossible withGod!

God’s plan for you is so good that no one can duplicate it or imitate it. Stick with His plan. Trust that He has the best plan. Embrace His plan for your life. It is detailed and well-prepared.

10 nuggets of wisdom for your Saturday (Part 143)

Let God’s Word live rent free in your mind. Let it permeate your spirit and dominate your heart. Give it a home in your spirit and it will make you a powerhouse of faith.

Talk about what the Lord has done any chance you get. Don’t worry about your praise report. Don’t worry that it’s not as big as your neighbors’. Report what the Lord has done. That is all that matters. Give God the glory!

Every time you think you can do it on on your own and you take control of the situation, you stand in the way. You stand in the way of what is the best way. You stand in God’s way!

Don’t engage in conversations with fear. It will try to convince you and say that all is lost. Tell fear to be quiet by having conversations with God and by telling your mind that your faith is bigger than your fear.

Jesus is the portal to Heaven. He is the way, the truth and the life. Go through Him in everything you do. Rely on Him in everything that happens. Trust His love and know that it is true. Jesus is the way when there seems to be no way!

Take the pulse of your faith. Monitor it and adjust it. Use the Word of God to regulate your faith. Let God give you the rhythm of your faith. He knows how to change the beat of your hope.

Rebuke bitterness. It will give you a bitter spiritual taste. It will spoil your spiritual appetite and it will leave you hungry for more negativity. Find the soothing manna from Heaven. Jesus has set a table before you where bitterness doesn’t exist. Eat at His table. Refuse to join the negative meals the enemy is serving you.

The anchor to your soul will keep you grounded and will keep you stable even in the midst of the wildest oceans. Jesus is that anchor!

The peace that comes from the Lord can shutter the stress that comes from the world. Adhere to His peace by thanking Him and by declaring that it is in you.

Hope is God’s reply to our distress. Let’s take His reply and apply it to every question we have in our lives. His hope will answer everything!

Jesus is the Savior and when you believe in Him, you believe in life, love, peace and hope. You can maintain them as you keep your relationship with Jesus strong.

God guarantees that His Word is true. Take that guarantee and keep it near you. When the enemy brings up problems and when your life breaks down show him your guarantee. You have it in writing in the Word of God.

Consider your life to be in good hands because it is. God has you in the palm of His hand and you are safe and secure. Hold on to His security and thank Him for His safety.

Take two steps forward in faith. Walk. Keep walking. Don’t worry. Don’t fret. God is leading you and directing your steps. You are on the right track!

God’s peace is the rare pearl that should be saved and kept in a safe place. Let His peace find a home in your heart and you will be able to face anything that life dumps on you.
