A song for Jesus

Last night I thanked the Lord for the great evening I was having. There was nothing special going on other than I was with Jesus. It was all that mattered. I smiled a lot. I was very content. I was so glad I was spending time with the Lord with no distractions. I listened to a song about Jesus. One of the lyrics was about magnifying the name of Jesus and the singer said that this song was forever His. It was a great song for Jesus. When the Lord hears us, our voices are like music to His ears. He listens to what we have to say. What does your song to Jesus sound like? Is your song about how great He is? Is it  a song of thanksgiving? Is it a song of doubt and fear? Is it a song of complaints? Today I want you to think about what you tell the Lord and what you don’t tell Him for that matter. What does your song to Him sound like? What messages does your song send Him?

I talk to the Lord more and more outside of my prayer time. I used to have set times for me to talk to Him which didn’t make sense. When you think about it, Jesus is always there and He is always listening. He doesn’t listen to us more just because we are praying. We don’t have to make an announcement and say we are going into prayer for Him to listen. He hears our every thought and our every word and He loves it when we talk to Him. You might think that since He hears what is inside we don’t need to speak. We do or better said we need to express what’s inside. He wants to hear us express our faith, our love, our gratitude, our respect, our enthusiasm out loud if we can. If inner thoughts are all we can give Him, it is fine as well. What we need to do is express something to Him. Silent prayers are prayers too. Words spoken in our hearts are words too. All of them are a song we sing to Jesus and we should pay attention to what that song sounds like.

I don’t want my song to Jesus to sound like a cranky old country song that expresses sadness and remorse all the time. My song to Him has to be joyful. My song to Him has to be a tribute to His goodness and to His love. I am working on my song every single day now. I work on the lyrics and I make sure that the chorus echoes my love for Him. Jesus is the main topic of my song. My song to Him used to be too much about myself until I learned that I was here to adore Him and worship Him. Have you ever heard praise and worship songs that are more about the person singing than they are about the Lord? Songs that describe how wonderful the singer is and how much he or she accomplishes. Our songs to the Lord should be melodies about the King of kings. When I thanked the Lord for the nice evening I was having, I sang part of the nice song I have for Him. I encourage you to thank Jesus all the time about anything and everything. Gratitude is a beautiful song. Thanksgiving is a good thing to sing.

When we talk to the Lord we should magnify Him and glorify Him. Let’s take moments to just adore the Lord with no hidden agenda and with no reason other than to give Him the glory. We ought to do that more and more. We are meant to worship Him. That is our number one priority and that is why we were created. We have taken many steps away from our number one purpose but we can get back there by making sure we talk to Him with love and adoration. Think about what you tell the Lord on a daily basis. Express your love. Express your joy. Express your gratitude. Express your needs as well but don’t let them be all you talk about. Jesus wants to hear you. He is waiting for you. Sing your song to Him every day! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

The best song you will ever sing

I love music! Like many people, I listen to music every single day. I couldn’t imagine my life without music. There are songs that I sing when I am driving or when I am by myself. Those songs are Christian songs. Some I call “feel good songs.” They don’t really exalt the Lord but they have a good and comforting message. Then there are songs that give Jesus all the glory. Those are my praise songs and my favorite songs by far. I find that songs that focus on Jesus are very powerful and very beautiful. I sometimes get songs in my head that I have never heard before but I sing them. I let the lyrics roll out of my heart and come out of my mouth. I join the choir of Heaven and sing those new songs to the Lord. They sound amazing to me and they always come when I need to up my praise game or when I am full of joy. Whatever our hearts are full of will always come out. When my heart is full of appreciation and gratitude, praises come out.

I want to be that Christian who will always praise the Lord even if life is trying to make me doubt and make me fall. Life can try to squeeze the words “I give up” out of me but “Amen. God is great” is what will come out instead. What is the best song I have ever sung? I can think of a few songs but I know that my life is the best song I will ever sing if I stay in the Lord and He remains the focal point of my life. Our lives are songs. They have rhythms, they have lyrics, they have a beat and they have a chorus. When Jesus is your chorus and your refrain, your life is a sweet song that gives God the glory. I choose to sing Jesus with my life. I don’t always get it right. It is often out of tune but my heart is in it and I will continue to sing the best song I could ever sing to His glory.

What does your life say about you? What is the main theme of the song of your life? What do you focus on and what do you want your legacy to be? These are poignant questions that are not always easy to answer. I invite you today to examine your life and to try to line up the lyrics of your life with the Word of God. When His Word defines our lives, when we rely on His Word to make sense of our lives, we produce a melody that is pure and holy. God’s Word has all the lyrics we need to create a great song and to lead a life that is pleasing to God. Is it always going to be perfect? Not at all but Jesus is perfect and He gives meaning to our lives.

My main chorus is all about Jesus. He is why I am here, why I live and why I enjoy this life. Jesus should always be the refrain that comes back over and over again. When things go well and when things go bad, Jesus should still be the One we worship and praise. He told us to remain in Him and to live our lives through Him. He is the best reason to celebrate life and the only One who is worthy of all our praises. When you think about it, you would have nothing without Him and you would be nowhere. Jesus puts us on the map of life and gives us a place to stay, a place to grow and a place to rejoice. Let Him be your chorus. Let Him be the main theme of your life and your song will be marvelous and inspiring.

The best song you will ever sing is the song that gives Jesus credit for everything. It is the song that puts Him first and that makes you take the back seat. It is the song that doesn’t worship the world but that lifts up the name of Jesus. It is a song about love and about the cross. It is a song of joy, a song of peace and a song of faith. It is all about the love of God. It is all about loving others like ourselves. It is all about peace. It promotes peace with others and peace within. It is all about joy. It rejoices all the time even when life is rough. It is all about faith. It keeps every lyric Jesus-centered and it sees things before they happen.

This song doesn’t rely on circumstances but it is a song that knows that everything will be alright no matter what. It is not a song of fear but a song of victory in the Lord. It is encouraging, uplifting and motivational. Your life can be that song. Your life can be all about Jesus, all about love, all about peace and all about faith. Let your life be in sync with the Lord. Trust Him. Sing about Him. Let His love echo in your body and His peace resonate in your mind while His joy dances in your heart. You are singing a song every day with your life and it can be very powerful. Keep singing Jesus to the world through your thoughts, your actions and your words!

Sing a new song to the Lord

Music is a big part of my life. I know that a lot of my friends and family also love music and can’t go a day without it. Life without music would be like a tasteless dish with no salt, no flavor and no joy. You probably have one ingredient, one condiment, one spice that you love that makes your food a joyful experience. Music is what makes my life a joyful experience because the music I love is music that exalts the Lord. It is uplifting and it is exquisite. It puts Jesus on a pedestal and it minimizes the influence of the world on my mind and in my heart. The world has ways of getting inside our heads and in our spirits and shaking everything up by taking the place that rightfully belongs to the Lord. Music is powerful. It is one of the most powerful things that exists. It was meant to exalt the Lord but we often see that it exalts the world over the Lord. When I had the big change in my life over 6 years ago, one of the most impactful encounters with the Lord, the music of my life changed. I started singing a new song to the Lord. My life started being a praise song instead of the sad song that I used to be so attached to. God gave me new lyrics. I embraced them and I have kept them all these years. What song is your life singing? What are you singing to the Lord repeatedly? Who oversees the lyrics of your life? What tune do you choose first thing in the morning? What song do you keep throughout the day? Do you let life change the record and put on a song that brings you down? Today I am here to encourage you to sing a new song to the Lord every day. Let me explain.

Our words are melodies to the Lord. He loves hearing our voices. He knows what we are going to say and He understand the songs of our lives. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He hears every note played by our lives and He listens to the cry of our hearts and the laughter that comes out of our spirits. He knows the rhythm and the beat of every day of our lives. He can’t miss a beat and He never tune out. He is always in harmony with our thoughts, our emotions and our ideas. It doesn’t mean that we are in harmony with Him. His desire is for us to change our songs and tune into His music. He wants our lives to be vibrant sounds of hope and sounds of joy. He has a song for us to sing that He gives us through His Spirit. We can choose to sing it or we can side with the songs of the world. The songs of the world can be very whiny and very depressing. They can bring you down without you saying anything. Those songs are in our heads and they don’t have to be sung to create havoc in our lives. All we have to do is play them over and over in our minds and the enemy has us where he wants us. He wants us away from the Lord, away from faith and hope. The more we play the negative music of the world, the less receptive we will be to the melodies of the Lord. His melodies are what we should long for and what we should express. Our lives are songs that we should choose carefully.

I have mentioned before how I often hear music deep down inside. I hear songs of praise. Songs that I have never heard in the natural but that sound amazing. Songs that focus on Jesus and that glorify Him. Now, I have noticed that those sounds from Heaven come more naturally when I am positive and I stay on God’s wavelength. When I stay tuned to joy, faith and positive confessions, the music starts. God has a song for you and me to sing but it can’t grow amid doubt and negativity. It won’t emerge when we put a pile a negativity on top of it. The secret to a beautiful song to the Lord is to sing to Him no matter what happens to us. Maintaining a song of praise through the way we lead our lives and how we approach every event is a great dedicated song to our Lord. It is a wonderful way to praise Him without words. Our actions and our deeds can produce incredible music that highlights faith and the goodness of God. Emotions should be taken out of the equation and faith should be the instrument we use to sing with our lives. You can always sing a new song to the Lord. Decide to make it a good song that celebrates Him. Keep the lyrics in line with His Word and His love. Sing a new song to the Lord with your life today!

Taking the highway to Heaven

Do you ever feel the presence of God? Do you find that certain things bring you into the presence of God? Do you get into His presence faster when you do something specific? I have said this many times and I want to repeat it today; praise is the fastest route to God’s presence. There is a song called “Praise is the highway.” I love the lyrics and I agree with them wholeheartedly. My prayer life and my spiritual life were revitalized and revived when I made praise a daily practice. Praise has become part of what I always do and part of who I am. I can’t have a stable and balanced spiritual life without praise. It seems that something major is missing when I don’t praise. I also see a shift in my emotions and feelings when I don’t praise. It’s not a positive shift. It makes me cranky and short-tempered which is not in my nature. The lack of praise turns me into the person that I am not supposed to be. It splits my personality and gives vent to more negativity than I should let in. Praise is a cure for the everyday malaise and moodiness. It is a door into God’s presence and when you are in His presence you are filled with peace, patience, joy and love even for just a moment. Praise does that. It fills you up with God’s goodness. It gives you an injection of God. I am inviting you today to make praise a daily habit. Live a life of praise. You can work on making it be natural to your mind, spirit and body. Make it be a part of you. Let it define who you are and let it be an indication of who your true self is. Praise is the highway to the heart of God. It is the highway to Heaven and you can be on that road every day.

Praise is a blanket. It is a blanket that covers you from the negative chatter of the enemy. When those negative voices get loud in your head, get out the blanket of praise and it will cover you and protect you from the violent words that are trying to spoil your sanity. The blanket of praise will wrap you in the arms of love. When you praise, the Lord extends His arms and keeps you warm and safe. He is in your praises. He inhabits the words of joy and celebration that you utter in His honor. He won’t leave you in the cold when you praise. He will surround you and shield you from the rain. The enemy will rain on your parade every chance he gets but God will keep your parade covered when you take out the blanket of praise! With praise you can also have a blanket under your feet and walk over the enemy’s territory without being harmed. The enemy will lay traps in front of you but your praises will be a protection as the Lord deals with the enemy’s snares for you. Praise Him!

Praise takes you directly to the heart of God. Like the song says, praises are the highway to the throne of God. A highway can be traveled on at high speed. It’s not like a small country road. With the Lord you are not taking backroads when you are praising Him. You are shooting your way to the top and you have easy access to His throne. Praise will give you the speed that will get you to a destination of joy. Praise brings joy. It touches your heart and it fills you with bliss. Praise will transform your mood in no time. It will drive you to joyful land as you give in to its power. If you are having a hard time finding peace and joy, give in to praise. Give the sacrifice of praise and the Lord will give you the benefit of peace. Praise does wonders and it shows you signs of God’s kindness and love. Praise is a highway that draws you nearer to God’s heart and you can hear the beat of His love, one praise word at a time. Get into praise today. Don’t wait until church on Sunday. Praise is a highway less traveled by the Christian community and you and I can change that. Let’s encourage others to praise every day. Let’s sing to the Lord a love song every chance we get. Your song is going to change the atmosphere in your mind, in your heart and around you. Get on the road of praise and see what the Lord does in your life. Your praises will make God rain in your life in ways that you have never seen before!

Take heart

“Take heart ” is a song by Hillsong United that I listened to over and over again three years ago. It was during a season of my life when I really needed to “take heart.” I wasn’t sure how I was going to get out of a few situations I found myself in. I didn’t know if I should go right or left. However, I held on to hope and to my faith and I cried out to God for help. If your week is starting off on a wrote note, let me tell you that there is always hope even in the darkest times. You might be down in the valley now but Jesus is with you. You might not know whether to turn right or left but Jesus is your compass today. He will guide you and He will get you out of the worst situations. I have been there. I know how you are feeling. Let me encourage you today to hold on to your faith and cry out to God. He will do the impossible. He will make a way where there is no way. My words for you today Monday are “take heart.” My verse for you today Monday is Isaiah 41:10. It says “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Friend, take heart and do not be afraid. The Lord will be with you all week long in good times and bad times. He is your God. He will strengthen you and help you. You couldn’t ask for anyone better to be your helper. He created the whole world and here He is telling you that He will help you. My prayer for you to use today Monday is this; “Lord thank you for your presence. Thank you for your love, your mercy and your grace that endure forever. Thank you for your mercies that are renewed every morning. They are renewed for me today. You are going to be with me and Your are going to help me. I have nothing to fear because You will not leave me. Thank You for listening to my prayer, for blessing me and for making me a blessing today. In Jesus’ holy beautiful name I pray.“Take heart. The best is yet to come. God is not going to leave you.

Three years later, the song “Take heart” still means a lot to me. The difference now is that I am anchored in the Lord and the message of the song to take courage is etched in my heart. I know what to expect and what I expect is that God will have the final say! Just like the song says “Should oceans rise and mountains fall. He never fails.” Have a great week!
