Communicate with the Holy Spirit

What would you ask Jesus if you saw Him face to face? What would you want Him to tell you if He walked into your bedroom and sat next to you? Have you ever thought about that? I used to ask these questions to myself all the time. Then I realized that He is always here. He is always around. He sent His Spirit to be with us so we could have our questions answered and so we could experience Him sitting next to us. Having a relationship with the Holy Spirit, being Holy Spirit conscious, honoring and respecting the Holy Spirit are all very important. Jesus gave us His Spirit as a gift and we can’t ignore Him or overlook Him. I overlooked the Holy Spirit for too long. I did not receive the precious gift of the Lord. I was too busy being religious and I missed out on the greatest One. Jesus didn’t send the Holy Spirit so we could have Him only when we are drowning. The Spirit will help us for sure but He is there for us so we can have a relationship with God all the time. The Holy Spirit is the link between God and us. We can’t get to know God without the Holy Spirit. We can’t get close to Jesus without the Holy Spirit. It’s time we embraced the divine gift. It’s time we acknowledged the Holy Spirit. He wants to be close to us and to be the family that He is. My prayer life, my praise life, my faith life and my spiritual life all improved when I started including the Holy Spirit. Today I want to invite you to invite the Holy Spirit into every part of your life. Talk to Him. Pray with Him. Listen to Him. Sing thanks to Him. The Holy Spirit will get you close to Jesus in a new way when you let Him be in control.

What makes a good and solid relationship? Many people would say that communication is key. If we want to have a good relationship with the Holy Spirit, we need to turn that key every day and use it to open the door to His greatness. Yes, the Holy Spirit is great! He is God. He is the Lord. He is amazing. He is our family and He is with us and in us. He was dormant in me for years because I didn’t know how to approach Him. I wasn’t sure what the proper etiquette was. I was too formal and too rigid in my thinking. I saw Him more as a distant judge and I didn’t dare to talk to Him unless I was saying one of my mundane prayers. Then He sort of burst and exploded into my life. He came and invaded my life. He showed up and gave me a new lease on life. He didn’t come alone. He came with joy, peace and love. He came with an immense smile and with a huge amount of love. I experienced Him through love. I once was told that when the Holy Spirit would be part of my everyday life, He would be there in a big way. I didn’t know what it meant until it happened. I didn’t look for Him directly. I put the key in the door and turned it. The key was communication but it had the form of praise. I got to know the Spirit better through praise and worship. I started to get up early, very early every morning to praise the Lord. The goal was to pray but it always began with praise. I would sing a few songs and get into the zone. That zone was the Jesus zone. A place where Jesus was lifted up and His presence was tangible. Praise works, friend. Praise brings the Lord unto the scene. There is no specific formula. It just has to come from the heart and to be centered around Jesus.

Praising and worshipping is how I tapped into the power of the Holy Spirit. Now, one thing that is very important to remember is that the desire to praise and pray comes from the Holy Spirit. He is the instigator. He is the originator. He puts those desires in us and when we lean on Him and go with His flow, we are in full communication with Him. Why? When we pray and praise, we offer words and adoration to the Lord. In return, He shows up and He talks to us. He has many ways of talking to us. He will use the best way that can get your attention. He wants to hear from us. He wants to hear us. He wants to be intimate with us. I often see worship and praise as an opportunity for the Spirit of Jesus to express Himself through us and to us. The Bible talks about praise hundreds of times for a reason. It is a powerful way to communicate with the Lord. I get messages when I praise and pray. I get an impartation of joy, of love, of peace. The Holy Spirit does that. When you are in communion with Him, you receive parts of Him. He won’t leave you empty and He won’t disappoint you. Talk and He will listen. Listen and He will talk. He will always point at Jesus. He will always encourage you to be the best worshipper you can be, the best Jesus lover you can be and the best person you can be in Jesus. Develop that relationship and get to know Him. He is more than incredible. He is miraculous and loving. Communicate with the Holy Spirit every day. It will make your life so much better!

Heaven has a place on earth

I once heard someone describing his life as a living hell. He was going through some very tough times and there didn’t seem to be any relief in sight. When you talk about your life as a living hell you have reached rock bottom and there is no fiber of hope in you. I felt bad for that man. I found the description very strong and I felt the weight of his misery. I understand that there are times when life is cruel and it torments us. I used to think that there would be peace only in Heaven and while we are here we have to take the bad for what it is and try to survive that living hell. Jesus came to earth to save us and to bring Heaven to earth. Think about it. The world was doomed but His sacrifice opened the door to Heaven for anyone who would believe. His coming here was a major collision between Heaven and earth and that collision still exists. Our salvation is still relevant today and Jesus is definitely relevant. He is present, He is good, He is God, He is loving, caring and saving. He is the King of Heaven and He brings Heaven with Him. Jesus is on your side and by your side, friend. If your life is a living hell, know that Heaven has a place on earth now. Heaven is going to collide with the hell you are going through and it will settle down where you are. Expect things to change. Expect the doors of Heaven to open wide and to take you out of that hell.

I have experienced many Heaven collision types of events and they keep happening. I have gone through hellish times where I had no way out but the Lord intervened and Heaven prevailed. You see, that is the key. Heaven will prevail. Jesus always prevails. When you are having a horrible time, turn to Heaven. Turn to Jesus, the One who can stop that hell and put you back where you belong. You are a citizen of Heaven. You are a legal resident of Heaven so when hell is trying to surround you, tell the enemy to back off. When the enemy drags you into hellish territories, rebuke him and tell him your passport to hell expired. Bad things might be happening and they will but it doesn’t mean that you are going to stay in those bad areas of life. The Kingdom of God is your permanent habitation and you can claim your rights to a Kingdom intervention. Call upon the Lord. Pray and get out of the land of desperation. Go back to the land of freedom where Jesus is king, peace reigns and love prevails.

The last time I was in hot waters and my life felt like hell, it took me some time before I realized that I was letting myself travel to the wrong destination. I didn’t have to accept the stamp of the enemy in my passport. His visa was illegally placed there. I turned to the One who knows that I am not supposed to be roasted by the enemy. I claimed my heavenly rights and I declared that Jesus was my Savior and that He would get me out of that hell. I refused to give my circumstances more power than they should have. Things looked bad but they didn’t change Heaven. Heaven will go on whether life is good or bad so I decided to cling on to Heaven and join the choir of the angels that are praising the Lord 24/7. I put an end to the ban from Heaven. The enemy has no right to pull us into his dire straits. Today I want to encourage you to let Heaven collide with your hell by declaring that Jesus is victorious and that He is getting you back into His promised land. Nothing can stop the Lord from blessing you and from bringing Heaven to you in the middle of your day in hell. Heaven has a place here on earth and here in your life. Claim it, believe it and thank God for it!

God is still in control

When everything is out of control, God is still in control. When chaos is all you see around you, God is still in control. When you are lost and you don’t know how you will get back to “normal”, God is still in control. When your bank account is low and your bills are high, God is still in control. When you are in pain and the meds are not kicking in, God is still in control. When you are living in fear and you can’t go out without worrying, God is still in control. Any scenario you can think of can’t stop God from still being in control. I don’t know what you are going through today but I know that God is still in control. I don’t know what or who you have lost but I know that God is still in control. Before you were born, before your problems came to life, before peace went out the window, God was in control and He will always be. Today I want to encourage you and remind you that there is nothing you can face that is out of God’s control. Nothing that you are experiencing is bigger than God’s power and God’s love. You are still in good hands. You are still loved and you are still blessed. God is still in control in your life today. Hang tight. He is going to show you what He can do!

We often get into situations that seem very much out of our control. Things happen to us and we have no say on the matter. We never asked for those difficulties and yet they are sitting on our lap and we can’t push them away. Have you ever felt so much pressure from your problems that they seemed to be sitting on you all the time? Have you ever had so many worries that your mind couldn’t focus on anything else? Wherever you go and whatever you do your mind is filled with worry and doubt. You wonder how you are going to solve the problems, how you are going to get out of this mess. You start believing that the more you think about it, the more of a chance you have to find a solution but you really have no control over anything. The shift needs to start in your thinking. God needs to be included and to be added into the mix of all your thoughts. He is the One who can sort things out and He can make things better. Add Him into the recipe of your mind and you will see that He was the missing ingredient that could make everything taste so much better. He will give you a new appreciation for life and a new palate for the best things life has to offer. Let Him take over and He will change the recipe for disaster that was taking place in your mind.

“God is in control” and that truth should be part of what comes to mind every time you hit a hiccup. God took care of you before and He will take care of you again. He has been around. He didn’t leave when the problems started. He was waiting for you to turn to Him and to thank Him for being in control. He was trying to get your attention and tell you that there is nothing to worry about. Why? Because He is the One in control and not you. The only way you can fix it is by trusting Him, staying calm, expressing your faith, rejoicing despite the headaches and giving Him all the glory. Focus on how He is in control. Make it a habit to say every day that He is still in control. Say it in the morning, say it at night and say it throughout the day. You might not see how things are going to get better but you don’t need to see it. You just need to know that God is still in control and something amazing is coming your way. Your breakthrough is around the corner and great solutions are making their way into your life. God is still in control and He is making a way in the desert. He is bringing showers of blessings that will quench your spiritual thirst and make good things grow in your life again. God has not forgotten about you. He has not left your side. He has been there loving you and He is going to do something unexpected and something life-changing for you. He is in control of the outcome so don’t dwell on the problems. They are easy for Him to fix. God is still in control. Sleep easy tonight. There is nothing to worry about in Jesus’ name!

Don’t give up on hope

Someone once told me that as long as there is life, there is hope. I like to add that as long as there is Jesus, there is hope. Jesus is always there and He is not going away. He will never ever stop to exist. The Lord has always been and He will always be. As long as you are alive and you have Jesus, there is hope. I would even say that as long as you are alive, there is hope even if you don’t have Jesus. Why? His mercy and grace are for everyone. Think about how you and I got saved. Think about the biggest miracle in our lives when we received salvation. We didn’t know the Lord before. He took care of us. He came to us. He set us free. As long as there is Jesus, there is hope. This means a lot to everyone. It means a lot to the people in your life. People who are not saved. There is hope for them. Don’t give up on them. Don’t give up on hope. Period. You might be climbing the biggest mountain you have ever

climbed today. You might be facing the biggest trial of your life today. You might be in so much pain that you are hating today. Don’t give up. Keep on climbing. Keep on being strong. Keep on praying for healing. Keep on believing. Jesus is still Jesus and He is climbing that mountain with you. Jesus is still Jesus and He is giving you strength. Jesus is still Jesus and He is healing you. He bore our infirmities on the cross. He has a plan for your healing. Don’t give up on hope. Jesus is the hope for all humanity. Hold on to the hope of hopes. Hold on to the One who can save anyone and who can get you out of your present and future tribulations. There is always hope. Stay focused on hope and refuse to give in to fear, worry and despair. Resist them and protect yourself with the shield of hope. Don’t give up. Jesus is still Jesus!

I know how easy it is to give up. It takes no effort. It’s natural and it feels right. Hope is not what we see when our problems are staring us in the face. Problems can cause a lot of fear and as we know, fear is the enemy of faith. The Bible talks about our enemies and I strongly believe that fear is one of our biggest enemies because it separates us from God. It makes us walk away from Him. It blinds us and it paralyzes us. We could have the best Bible knowledge and be full of wisdom but if fear is keeping us captive, all we know doesn’t matter. The goal is to insert hope in everything we think, we say, we believe and we do. Hope should be the common denominator that makes all equations right. Hope should be placed in the holes that fear is trying to magnify. Every little bit of fear can turn into a big hole of unbelief if we don’t take care of it. What do we do then? We press on with hope. We start the day with hope, spend the day with hope and end the day with hope. We start the day with Jesus, spend the day with Jesus and end the day with Jesus. We speak up against our circumstances and we speak Jesus over our lives. Hope is a catalyst for Jesus so to speak. When you allow hope to be your go-to modus operatus, you give Jesus a chance to show up and show off like I like to say. He shows off by manifesting His love. He doesn’t brag. He just displays His power and His love for you. Hope gives us a seat in the stadium of faith where we can watch life with trust in the Lord and with an anticipation that everything is going to be just fine.

Don’t give up on hope. That is what the enemy wants you to do. Call on Jesus all the time. He will show you that in life there is no reason to worry and no reason to fear because He is the creator of life and He knows how to protect you and bless you. When fear knocks at your door, answer with hope. Answer with Jesus. Know and trust that He is with you and in you. His Spirit will always assist you. Keep your mind clear of anything that doesn’t exalt Jesus. Anything that tries to block the fruit of the Spirit in your life has to go. Love, faith, hope, joy and all the other fruit are a basket of power. It is power that makes us triumph in this world. The power fruit will get you through the day by keeping your emotions in check and keeping you centered in the hope of hopes. Don’t give up on hope, friend. The best is yet to come. You are not going to be in this miserable state forever. Hope is with you. Hope is in you. Give hope a chance and praise the Lord for hope. Be grateful for hope. Jesus is still Jesus. You are going to make it. Stay encouraged!

What happens when you are filled with God’s Word?

Yesterday I woke up hearing “The battle is still going on but Jesus won the war.” I heard it deep down inside over and over again. I also heard “Jesus is more than enough and His grace is sufficient.” Out of the abundance of the heart comes revelation. If our hearts are filled with doubt and doctrines of the world, those negative things will speak to us first thing in the morning. If we fill our hearts with God’s hope and His Word, God will speak to us first thing in the morning. I used to be a huge fan of music. I listened to different types of music including Christian music but it wasn’t the main genre I gravitated toward. What spoke to me first thing in the morning were lyrics of songs that depressed me or that gave me a false sense of peace. I knew those words too well and they made up the frame of my thinking to the point where I could barely get out of that negative structure. I knew about Jesus’ victory but defeat is all my heart could see. I couldn’t understand why I was so down and why things always went astray even though I believed in the Lord.

My problem was that I believed in the world more. My cup was full but it was mostly filled with the wrong water. I was thirsty for spirituality but I kept drinking the negativity. I could say that my cup was overflowing with the wrong content. God should be our number one. That is how it works. That is how we win the battles. That is how we can thrive as believers. That is how we are intended to be. Today I want to encourage you to fill up your cup with the Lord. Let Him fill you up to the brim. Let Him give you what you need. Replace the world with the Lord. Your heart will speak to you  and say exactly what you need to hear at the right time. Let God be the overflow in your life. Cut off the junk that is making you drown on the inside.

I get so encouraged when I hear uplifting messages from the Spirit of God out of nowhere. Those messages seem to hit home even more first thing in the morning because they set the tone for the day. I listen to them and I repeat them to myself through the day. When Jesus says that His grace is sufficient for us, He means it. He means that we have nothing to be afraid of, we have nothing to fear because He is more than enough for us. Our problems could seem to be a lot but Jesus is much more than those problems. Let’s not be intimidated by how big our trials are. Jesus already judged and assessed the situation and He says “I can handle this more than easily. I’ve got it. Nothing is too hard for Me.” Those are words that touch your heart and pierce your soul. You feel comforted, protected and strong when you hear them. You need to hear them and you can get to that point of hearing them all the time when you put the right words in front of you. Put the words of the Lord in front of you as much as you can. Read His Word. Pray His Word. Sing His Word. You need to get filled up and you need to stay full of Him. Ask the Lord to saturate you with His presence. Ignite the process by giving Him first place.

When discouragement comes, we have two choices; we can give in to it or we can fight it. I suggest fighting it every time. Fight it with the weapon of praise and fight it with the word of your testimony. Let that word be a word of how great your God is. Don’t let the negativity get to you by making you say all the wrong things about your situation. You see, misery loves company and when you start having self-pity parties, you end up with a host of negative agents that keep you in a negative cycle. When negativity comes at you, fight back with positivity. It may sound simple but it does wonders. There is positivity in you. The Lord is in you and He is the most positive One there is. Dig deep inside of you and extract the Lord’s positivity. The more you do it, the more it will become a reflex. Those positive reflexes can save you every time. They are habits that we ought to develop. Watch what you watch! Watch what you listen to. Watch what you allow in you. There is so much junk in the world that wants to form a pile of garbage in you that will turn you into a dumpster of sadness and defeat. The enemy will dump his worst lines into your spirit and prevent you from rising up when you fall. Don’t feed your spirit junk. Give yourself manna from Heaven. Feed your spirit the good Word of God.

I like to thank Jesus for the Holy Spirit. I thank Him every single day. Isn’t it just amazing that His Spirit dwells in us? I emphasize it and it is so real to me. It guides me and it steers my thinking in the right direction. It points me toward the ocean of hope and I ride the waves of peace every chance I get. I still have to fight the good fight of faith every day but I have an Insider who gives me all the information I need when I need it. The Holy Spirit is the Insider who knows it all and who can give us all. I rely on Him and He speaks. He reveals. He gives. He counsels. He encourages. He shows up. He shows off. He shuts down the enemy. My prayer is that you and I continue to get filled with the knowledge that the Lord is more than enough. His love is the most powerful force in the universe. We have nothing to fear and nothing to worry about. Let’s stay filled up with the wisdom of God. Let’s stay encouraged and let’s stay strong in the Lord.

Touching God with your hand of faith

I can only imagine what it was like to see Jesus walking down the streets, blessing people, healing them and loving them. His compassion and love for people was out of this world. It still is. Jesus is still alive and He hasn’t changed one bit. When He was preaching and speaking to crowds, people tried to touch Him. They knew He was a healer and they wanted to touch Him to get a blessing or to get their healing. Some got healed when they touched Him and others didn’t receive anything. What made a difference? Faith is the key that made a difference. The woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus and she was highly blessed because of her faith. Her faith healed her Jesus said. She made contact with the Messiah and her faith connecting her to her miracle. Touching God with unbelief won’t get the job done.

We can go through the motions of religion and just do all that we are expected to do but if we don’t have faith, we won’t receive from God. Once Jesus noticed that the woman of faith had touched Him, He told her to go in peace and He proclaimed her freedom. She was freed from her suffering. We all have ailments and aches that we need to be freed from. Some are physical and others are emotional or spiritual. Whatever you need today, stretch out your hand of faith and touch God. Don’t just reach out and hope that maybe you will get something. Don’t do it with no expectations. Expect, believe, trust. Believe in Jesus the Savior and Jesus the healer. He is able and willing to heal you when your faith gets in contact with His power. Let’s your faith in the Healer be superior to your fear of not receiving freedom and healing.

I want my faith to heal me and bless me every time I need it. In order for that to happen, I need to have strong faith. I believe faith is something we should work and that we will always have to work on forever. We can always have more faith. We can always believe more. It is easier to have faith in something or someone we know well. The goal here is to get to know the Lord better and have a good understanding of who He is. Without reading His Word and spending time in prayer, chances are we will get to know a small part of who He is. We will not have this heart connection that is so important in the faith process. Knowing God with our minds and our intellects doesn’t suffice. There has to be a deeper connection. I had a partial understanding of how to get closer to God for a long time. I thought that as long as I felt good about Him and good about checking the boxes of being religious, I was all set. I had a mental and intellectual approach to who God was. It left me empty and it wasn’t fulfilling. When we let the Lord enter our hearts and make His home there, we are on the right track.

I have found that praying “God I want to know You better. Help me develop my faith in You. Guide me and bless you during this process” is a powerful prayer. It’s ok to ask for help from God for anything. I see how the Holy Spirit has been on my side guiding me and showing me how to build up my faith. Prayer has been phenomenal. It gives my spirit a spiritual jolt that I need every day. It anchors my heart in our Savior and it pushes fear and doubt out of my mind. Prayer is a daily occurrence. Without it I feel lost and I don’t make progress. Prayer, Bible study, meditation on the Word, and praise and worship are the perfect ingredients for developing faith. Add gratitude and remembering what God has done for you and your faith will get to where it should be. Practice those great spiritual habits regularly and when you are ready to reach out and touch the Lord, your faith will bless you and heal you. Touch God with your hand of faith and miracles will take place!

Laying at the Lord’s feet

For the past few days, I have been getting the message that I should lay at the Lord’s feet. I keep hearing deep inside my spirit “Lay at My feet. Lay everything at My feet.” This profound encouragement to be in reverence before God has been piercing my heart and touching my soul. I have complied and let myself be in adoration in front of Him. I have been getting this strong desire to just put everything in front of the Lord and let Him take it all. I have presented my life to Him and everything that is part of it. It is as if I were scanning my life and taking pieces of it that I offer to the Lord every day. Something new comes up every day and I give it to the Lord in prayer. This has made me realize how much I hold on to too many things and how much I wasn’t willing to let go. God wants us to surrender to Him in all we do. Giving Him total control is showing Him we have faith and we trust Him. He wants to be our source of peace and comfort. He wants to be the only One we trust completely for safety. We too often rely on our finances or possessions and use them as a safety net. Would you be willing to take a leap of faith with no visible materialistic safety net to catch you? Are you willing to have the Lord as your only safety net? He will catch you every time you fall. He will cover you with His protection so you can jump as high as possible. Today I want to encourage you to lay your life at the Lord’s feet. As you lay at His feet and humble yourself, He will show you His face.

Humbling myself before the Lord is a lesson I learned later in life. It is more than a lesson. It is a way of life that dictates our lives for the best when we do if often. The more we humble ourselves before Him, the more He has control. Pride can get in the way. It can be a subtle obstacle that is hard to see. I saw it clearly. I saw it for a while but I ignored it for a long time. I used to think I knew better and I could handle everything. God was my Lord but He was my second resort. He was my plan B and you know when you have God as your plan B, your plan A is not a solid plan. It is a plan based on your human abilities but this life requires more than our human talents. We face all types of adversity that are way bigger than what we can deal with. We need the Lord to make it in this life and when we don’t accept that reality, we must face the music and dance around peace without ever completely knowing it. We do a dance with steps that keep distancing us from the One true King. I didn’t want to live that life. I got tired of carrying everything and having to fend for myself. God showed me that it was time I let go and I never went back. I let go and I started the process of getting closer to Him and laying at His feet.

I have this powerful visual during prayer time of laying at the Lord’s feet. It is such an amazing place to be because that is where our hearts can encounter His. At His feet is where you find yourself face to face with your vulnerability and where you are exposed to His beauty. When you lay at His feet, your ego takes a backseat and His majesty is prevalent. I had a breathtaking experience back in October of last year when I felt the Lord’s presence so powerfully that all I could do was cry for over an hour. I was lying on the floor with my face down. I had rarely felt such a great love in a room like that in the privacy of my own home. God’s glory was everywhere and my heart was enthralled. I remember saying “If only people knew” over and over again. I lay at His feet and I couldn’t get up. I didn’t want to get up. I felt so not worthy. I felt it in my heart and I saw love in a raw version that seemed so rare. I go back to the glory in prayer often now and it happens when I humble myself and I let the Lord be Lord and do what He wants and tell me what He wants. He should always come first. He should always be in control. When we are at His feet, we can’t help but adore Him and thank Him for being God. My prayer is that you lay at His feet every day and that you give up every piece that keeps you away from Him. It is a life-long process that is very much worth it. Lay at the feet of the Lord and He will show you His face!

Help yourself to a slice of Heaven

A while ago I discovered that Christian music was my favorite kind of music. To me there was nothing more beautiful than songs praising the Lord. It is the music I listen to the most and I am not saying that everyone should ditch all the other genres of music but Christian music is what I enjoy the most. I had a pretty amazing experience with it over 15 years ago and it has been a joy ever since. I did have a long season in the wilderness after that but I left that desert 6 years ago. Now I spend time in a lavish place where the joy of the Lord abounds and His peace resides. I reach that place through praise and worship. The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people and I can testify to that. He is in the praises and His presence is intensified when I praise. I have been doing it for a while now so every time I get into praise mode it takes no time for me to be transported into that place where the Lord is so present. It is like Heaven collides with earth and I am in the “God zone.” Do you ever visit the God zone? Do you spend time there? Do you carry it with you? Soaking in the Lord’s presence has the beautiful benefit of staying with us for some time. Soaking leads to wrapping. We get wrapped in the presence. You can tell when someone has spent time with the Lord. You see it in what they say, how they behave, how they act, how they smile and how they face life. It’s that powerful presence that affects our lives positively. We can’t spend time with God and not be transformed. Today I am inviting to spend time in praise. If you are facing some hardships or even if you are having the time of your life, make it a habit to praise the Lord every day. Praising is like helping yourself to a slice of Heaven. Do it today. Help yourself to a slice of Heaven and let Heaven impact your day.

I found out that praising God before entering prayer was allowing me to feel the heartbeat of the Lord and to enter His gates in a big day. Praise gets you inside the Lord’s presence through the big door. It gets you in with joy. It gets you in and keeps you there if you hold on to it. The first time I praised in the privacy of my bedroom, nothing spectacular happened but I knew I was doing the right thing. I wasn’t looking for some thrilling times but just some adoration time. I believe that is what set things in motion. My heart’s desire was to praise the Lord. I didn’t have much at the time and I wasn’t sure what the future was going to bring but I had Jesus. I thought to myself that I’d better praise Him because He had gotten me this far and I might never get far in life but at least I had made it to this point and I was satisfied. I was content but spending time in praise opened my mind. It opened my mind to possibilities. It seemed that the Lord always descended and met me when I praised. It was my secret place. It was overwhelmingly wonderful and I couldn’t understand how I had lived my life without it daily. You see, I had always pictured praise as being part of church on Sunday and not as an everyday habit. However, the Bible tells us to praise the Lord all the time. When we do, Heaven becomes more real and our hearts are changed.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a slice of Heaven every day? To have the reassurance that God is in control and that He will never leave us nor forsake us? Praise and worship do that for us. They get us closer to the heart of God. They reveal Him to us in ways that nothing else can. When Paul was persecuted and he was in jail, he sang praises to the Lord and the jail doors flung wide open. Praise and worship create miracles because the Lord is in them. They also give us hope and peace. They are a powerful way for us to find balance in our hearts and to tap into the joy of the Lord. Start praising at your house. It might feel uncomfortable at first but keep at it. Don’t give up. It makes the Lord happy and it will fill you with His joy and His love. If we praised more, we would complain less. If we praised more, we would worry less. If we praised more, we would understand the Lord better. If we praised more, we would collide with Heaven more often. Help yourself to a slice of Heaven every single day!

Taking the highway to Heaven

Do you ever feel the presence of God? Do you find that certain things bring you into the presence of God? Do you get into His presence faster when you do something specific? I have said this many times and I want to repeat it today; praise is the fastest route to God’s presence. There is a song called “Praise is the highway.” I love the lyrics and I agree with them wholeheartedly. My prayer life and my spiritual life were revitalized and revived when I made praise a daily practice. Praise has become part of what I always do and part of who I am. I can’t have a stable and balanced spiritual life without praise. It seems that something major is missing when I don’t praise. I also see a shift in my emotions and feelings when I don’t praise. It’s not a positive shift. It makes me cranky and short-tempered which is not in my nature. The lack of praise turns me into the person that I am not supposed to be. It splits my personality and gives vent to more negativity than I should let in. Praise is a cure for the everyday malaise and moodiness. It is a door into God’s presence and when you are in His presence you are filled with peace, patience, joy and love even for just a moment. Praise does that. It fills you up with God’s goodness. It gives you an injection of God. I am inviting you today to make praise a daily habit. Live a life of praise. You can work on making it be natural to your mind, spirit and body. Make it be a part of you. Let it define who you are and let it be an indication of who your true self is. Praise is the highway to the heart of God. It is the highway to Heaven and you can be on that road every day.

Praise is a blanket. It is a blanket that covers you from the negative chatter of the enemy. When those negative voices get loud in your head, get out the blanket of praise and it will cover you and protect you from the violent words that are trying to spoil your sanity. The blanket of praise will wrap you in the arms of love. When you praise, the Lord extends His arms and keeps you warm and safe. He is in your praises. He inhabits the words of joy and celebration that you utter in His honor. He won’t leave you in the cold when you praise. He will surround you and shield you from the rain. The enemy will rain on your parade every chance he gets but God will keep your parade covered when you take out the blanket of praise! With praise you can also have a blanket under your feet and walk over the enemy’s territory without being harmed. The enemy will lay traps in front of you but your praises will be a protection as the Lord deals with the enemy’s snares for you. Praise Him!

Praise takes you directly to the heart of God. Like the song says, praises are the highway to the throne of God. A highway can be traveled on at high speed. It’s not like a small country road. With the Lord you are not taking backroads when you are praising Him. You are shooting your way to the top and you have easy access to His throne. Praise will give you the speed that will get you to a destination of joy. Praise brings joy. It touches your heart and it fills you with bliss. Praise will transform your mood in no time. It will drive you to joyful land as you give in to its power. If you are having a hard time finding peace and joy, give in to praise. Give the sacrifice of praise and the Lord will give you the benefit of peace. Praise does wonders and it shows you signs of God’s kindness and love. Praise is a highway that draws you nearer to God’s heart and you can hear the beat of His love, one praise word at a time. Get into praise today. Don’t wait until church on Sunday. Praise is a highway less traveled by the Christian community and you and I can change that. Let’s encourage others to praise every day. Let’s sing to the Lord a love song every chance we get. Your song is going to change the atmosphere in your mind, in your heart and around you. Get on the road of praise and see what the Lord does in your life. Your praises will make God rain in your life in ways that you have never seen before!
