Hand it off to God

Sometimes all you have to do is hand it all off to God. All you have to do is admit that you can’t handle everything by yourself. Give God all your burdens. Give up control and give in to the One who is always in control. Sometimes a little bit of vulnerability goes a long way. There is no shame in being vulnerable before God. He loves it when we humble ourselves and we depend on Him. I have tried to control situations, thoughts and circumstances to no avail. It usually starts in my head. I analyze a situation over and over again. I convince myself that the more I think about it, the more I will be able to come up with a solution. The solution doesn’t always come and if it does, it’s not the best one. The Bible tells us to bring everything to the Lord. We are encouraged to cast all our fears upon the Lord. Now, if we don’t recognize our worries and fears and if we think they are minor details, we hinder the process of being set free from anxiety and stress. Handing everything over to God begins with recognizing that there are things we need to let go off. Jesus can take care of anything and everything but He won’t take things away from us by force. His Spirit will nudge gently but it is up to us to turn the page and let God write the next chapter by giving Him back control of the narrative. I want to invite you today to get into the habit of handing everything off to God. Go to Him first. Give Him the pain, the heartache, the headache and the worries. Cast your cares upon the Lord!

There is a point where things seem impossible for us. It looks like the point of no return. It’s the point where we have no clue how things are going to get better. We can get to that point fast and easily. The key is to keep our faith pointing in God’s direction. It takes practice and effort. God loves us so much that He said He would take care of what bothers us and what hurts us. When we pray, we can hand things over to the Lord. I have been praying more that way lately. I am getting used to casting my cares upon the Lord. The peace that has been sitting in my life for a while has been life-changing and amazing. However, there are still cracks that need to be watched carefully. Through those cracks, come stress and worry disguised in non significant thoughts that end up being bigger than the truth. It is my job to plug in those cracks and the best way I know how to do it is by praying. I pray and tell the Lord that I can’t handle the situation. I try to tell Him how everything makes me feel and I reject those negative feelings. I wasn’t meant to carry the burdens of life. Jesus did and He took care of them. I was meant to trust Him and to hand off the burdens every time they jump on my back. There is power in surrendering and power in admitting dependence on the Lord. The fruit of that dependence on Jesus is always good. It is sweet, bold and soothing. I got tired of eating sour grapes. Now, I have the fruit of the Spirit that cleanses my spiritual palate and that gives me the strength to handle life.

We can handle anything that comes our way when we are convinced that Jesus is the only way. He declared that He was the truth, the way and the life. We need Him all the time. We need His truth, His way and the life He gives. Whatever burden is sitting on you today is not too big for the Lord. The truth is that Jesus can do anything. He can remove anything. He can heal anything. He can make anything right again and He can change any situation. That is the truth you should use against the worries and burdens. There is a way. There is going to be a great way out of your problems. Give your problems to the Lord and you will see what He does for you. He is going to bring back life where everything seemed dead. This is not the end. This is not over. God will carry you through this tough time and you are going to be free again. Hand the worries off to God. Trade your sorrow for His gladness. Things are going to get better. Don’t get discouraged and don’t give in to fear. Greater is the One that lives in you than the enemy that lives in this world. Jesus is with you!

Praise the Lord even when it hurts

This message is an encouragement but it is also a challenge. It is an encouragement to challenge yourself and challenge your circumstances. “Praise the Lord” is at the core of my message. You often hear it as an expression of  agreement or as a way of saying “Glory to God.” Today I am telling you “Praise the Lord” as the best advice there is. Praise Him during your worst times. It is easy to praise Him when everything is going well but today I want to focus on your trials and tribulations. I want to talk about praising the Lord even when life hurts. I want to emphasize that your praise to the Lord when you are going through a tough time is what is going to help you get through that tough time. It is a challenge because your mind, your body and your soul do not want to praise the Lord when the going gets tough. Even your spirit can be on board with the rest of your body and refuse to turn on the praise. A distraught spirit is hard to revive but a few words from the Lord can bring it back to life. Your spirit might be in a zone now where despair is prevalent and praise is a distant thought but stay encouraged. With the Lord there is always hope. There is hope to get out of your funk and to get out of your troubles. He won’t leave you by yourself. The Lord who inhabits His praises is going to take control of your tribulations and dissolve them. Praise Him today. Praise Him when the pain is bad. Praise Him when you are in the trenches. Praise Him in the valley.

Trials and tribulations often feel like a long and endless walk in the valley of death. If you are there now, don’t worry, God is still with you. I understand that walking through that valley can be a painful and lonely experience. What I also understand is that God is with you in the valley and He will show up if you show Him that you rely on Him. Start praising now in the valley. Lift up your hands and give Him a shout. Lift up your hands and say the most beautiful things you can think of about Him. Lift up His name. Ignore the burn in your heart. Ignore how your feelings are trying to sabotage your praise session. Don’t pay attention to your emotions. Rise above them. Give it all you can. Praise Him. Start with a song that stirs up your faith and that focuses on Jesus. Praise is about Him so your song should reflect how great you believe He is. Singing those words of praise will not feel natural right now if you are having a hard time but it will open the door to more. More peace and more joy. Remember that the Lord is in the praises of His people. Let Him in. Open that door wider and wider. It doesn’t matter if you are not feeling it. You are filling the atmosphere with the presence of the One that truly matters. Negative thoughts will try to stop your praise. Keep on going. Don’t give up. Take on the praise challenge. It will strengthen your faith and it will set you free.

Know that the Lord loves it when you praise Him. Know that He has an impact on your environment when you praise Him. Praise is more than a song. It is a reverence toward the King of kings. It is a love declaration. It is an expression of adoration. It is a call for change. A call for a change for the best. It is your way of saying that despite it all, Jesus is still King. Praise looks at the majesty of the Lord and the loss of the enemy. Praise conquers the enemy. Praise is a slap in the face of adversity. Sustained praise keeps the enemy at bay. Resist the devil and he will flee. Praise is resistance. Praise is refusing to succumb to your circumstances and to the opposition. Praising the Lord is like saying “I am not worried about what is going on in my life. Jesus is the center of my life and He makes things right.” Turn up the volume of your praise. Keep on praising the Lord. It will alter the way you look at your circumstances. It will give you God’s perspective. It will give you hope and hope is all you need to get through this. Praise the Lord even when it hurts. Praise the Lord when you don’t feel like it. Praise the Lord and you will be set free. Praise the Lord and your situation will improve. Praise the Lord and you will see that nothing is impossible with God. Praise Him!

In the name of Jesus

There is a name that I can’t ignore. A name that I am putting above all names. A name that means life, truth and a way through the worst situations. A name that makes things possible. A name that is synonymous with love, peace and joy. A name that defeats the enemy. A name that gives hope when everything seems lost. That name is the name of Jesus. I use His name when I pray and I use it in everything I do. I have to explain that as a young Christian, the name of Jesus was the name that ended my prayers. It is still the case today but what I have discovered through the years is that the name of Jesus is not just a signature at the end of a list of requests. It is a seal. It seals my prayers and it says that “so be it” and it doesn’t matter what the enemy says. The name of Jesus is life and I use it to push life into the most desperate and dead situations. I use the name of Jesus when the enemy names my circumstances and gives them a bad label. The enemy has all sorts of names to describe what happens to us. He puts trials in our lives and tough situations in the name of torture and in the name of persecution. He tortures our spirits and persecutes our faith but the name of Jesus sets the record straight. In His name I have victory. In His name I have authority. In His name I have peace and love. In His name joy is my strength. How often do you speak the name of Jesus? How much faith do you have in the name of Jesus? It is time we proclaimed His name again. It is time we kept our hope in His name. It is time we renamed our circumstances by giving Jesus the right to rewrite our narratives and to shine with all His glory in our lives.

Jesus declared Himself that He was the way, the truth and the life and that no one can get to the Father except through Him. His name gives us access to the Father. I pray in the name of Jesus because as a kid I knew that His name would get the attention of the Father. I knew that His name opened doors and if I tried to pray in the name of saints or entities that were under Him, nothing could be accomplished. Calling on the name of entities was like blowing air. It didn’t do anything. I needed the name that comes with the wind. The name that provides the wind of change. The name that can move mountains and that can part the seas. The name of Jesus can do all that and more. His name is always sufficient. His name is always powerful. His name is always glorious. Develop your faith in the name of Jesus. Call on His name. It is never in vain. If you need your life to change, pray in the name of Jesus. Pray in the name of the One who is life and who can influence your life for the better. Pray in the name of the One who is the truth and who can beat the world’s lies. The name of Jesus is stronger than the lies of the enemy. Don’t buy the lies. Accept the truth for free. Pray in the name of the One who makes a way when there is no way. Jesus’ name will bring rivers into your deserts and sunshine on your cloudiest days. There is nothing that Jesus can’t do. Trust Him. Pray in His name. Things will change.

There is salvation in Jesus and His name contains the power of salvation. His name can bring life back into your life. When you are numb from sorrow, paralyzed by fear and crippled by worry, His name can set you free. The name of Jesus can set you free from bondage and oppression. Speak against the adversity in the name of Jesus. Put the enemy back in his place with the name of Jesus. Resist the devil in the name of Jesus and he will flee. The Bible promises that anyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be free. Your current trials and tribulations might be keeping you in a mental jail but the name of Jesus will set you free. His name is the key that opens any prison door. Take the key and unlock the cells in your life. Don’t let the enemy keep you captive. Jesus’ name is freedom. Deliverance is on the way. Call on the name that makes a way. Whatever you ask in the name of Jesus, the Father will do. As long as it is in line with His will, you can expect God to intervene. If you are not using the name of Jesus, please start today. If you say His name with boldness every day, please continue. Stay strong and stand your ground in Jesus’ name. Great things happen when we call on His name!

You are on the move

Do you ever feel stuck? Do you ever feel like you are not going anywhere? Do you feel like you are not making progress? It usually happens when we compare ourselves with others and we see people that are far in front of us. We are not supposed to run the same race. Those people might be far in one area of their lives and behind in another one. They might seem to be ahead of the race when there really should not be a race between them and us. I used to feel like my own race should be going faster. I felt like I wasn’t doing enough or my life wasn’t moving fast enough. I had this desire to run faster and faster but I wasn’t even sure where I was going. Then the Lord stopped me. Then He opened my eyes to a reality where my race was going well and He was the One coaching me and spotting me. Life can be a race or a boxing ring. We get beaten and we get up again but because we are in that ring, we expect to get hit again. The Holy Spirit can guide us out of that boxing ring mentality and train us to expect “God things” to happen in our lives. When we are stuck and all we believe is that we will never move again, we don’t expect “God things” to happen. “God things” are blessings, messages, revelation, an outpour of love, wisdom, peace, joy. It is basically anything that God has to offer and He has a multitude of options. With God you are going something. Even when you feel you are stuck, as long as you have the Lord, you are moving in the right direction. Today I want to remind you that you won’t be stuck in that one spot forever. You are on the move. With God you are making progress. Things are happening.

The key is to develop a mentality where you expect “God things” like I mentioned before. You can be stuck and never move if your mind is expecting to be stuck forever. A lot of what holds up back can be found in our thinking. It is true that bad things can happen to us. They will happen. There is no sugarcoating life but the way we approach those bad things makes all the difference. We have a choice. We can go along with those bad things and let them grow and continue or we can put our foot down and refuse to let them rule our lives. Option two is the best option. It’s the option where we bring Jesus into the scene. His entrance starts in our minds. We bring Him in through our thinking. It is a simple start. Just the thought of Him can be enough to begin ascending towards hope. Just the mention of His name can be enough to start breaking the barriers of negative thoughts and to give us the assurance that this is not the end. You see, the enemy wants us to believe that we are stuck forever and that things can’t get better. Things will always get better with the Lord. It might not happen overnight but when we turn to Him, good things are put in motion. There is so much happening behind the scenes that we are not aware of but we should trust and believe that God is working on our behalf.

The whole time you are thinking you are stuck, you should focus on what’s in front of you. God is in front of you. He is with you and He is leading the way. You are not behind other people. You are behind Jesus and as long as you are behind Him, you are exactly where you should be. I need to say this again. As long as you are behind Jesus, you are exactly where you need to be. Being behind Him means that you let Him guide you and lead the way. It means that you are surrendering yourself to Him and you are humbling yourself. It means that you put Him first and you recognize that He is more important than anything and anyone else including yourself. With Him you are going somewhere that is beautiful and that is unique. Your race and your path are very special and custom made. Continue to follow Jesus. Continue to pray, to trust, to praise and to thank Him. Don’t give up. You are heading somewhere. You will get there and you will understand someday why your journey has been the way it has been. It is not a mistake and it is not an error. God has you where you should be. Walk with Him. Walk with Jesus. Keep Him in plain view in front of you. Don’t take your eyes off Him. You are on the move!

Exploring God every day

It is just amazing to be in a relationship with the Lord. Would you agree that it is breathtaking? Who He is and what He does are mind-blowing to me. I have found that He always does something that surprises me, that energizes me and that gets me all excited. The excitement that comes from this relationship is just absolutely fabulous. I can’t believe that I lived my life without the Lord. I wasn’t breathing. I wasn’t living. I was just going through the motions pretending to have a life when I had what I call a pale imitation of reality. There is the world’s reality and the Lord’s reality. His reality is more real. It is infused with the essence of life and the substance of love. I don’t think my heart was beating well  before Jesus. I don’t think I had a clue what true love meant before Jesus. I had a great loving relationship with my family. I can’t deny that. They have been a tremendous blessing and God added into the family mix has amplified what love is.

Love gives you a reason to get up in the morning and the strength to face the day every day. God’s love does that for me all the time. I am not on cloud 9 but I am on cloud 99 because the Lord takes everything to a higher level. Do I ever fall off the cloud? I surely do and the Lord catches me. He is my safety net so when I fall, He is right below me. When I was given the great privilege  to know Jesus and to accept Him into my heart, everything changed for the best. It did take me a while to do what I call a “God exploration”. I started exploring God in more recent years and that exploration has yielded so much joy, so much peace and a great transformation.

Today I want to encourage you to explore God. Explore Him in His Word. Explore Him during prayer. Explore Him throughout the day. Explore Him in your thoughts. Explore Him in your heart. Explore Him beyond your feelings and your preconceived notions. Explore Him through His Spirit. When Jesus was on earth, He always took the time to be alone with the Father. Those one-on-one times were extremely precious and valuable. If Jesus needed time with the Father we certainly do as well. Exploring the Lord starts with giving Him our time and energy. Before explorers set on a journey, they take the time to do research and to investigate what they are looking for. Exploring God involves doing our own research and investigation. However, it should be done for ourselves.

We need to go to the source and find out what Jesus is all about for ourselves. Having some time alone with Him can get us there. What does He say during prayer time? What does He reveal during Bible study? We ought to develop this time with God away from the world so we can hear His heartbeat, so we can see His face and so we can share His mind. The heartbeat of God resounds with a deep love that is above any human love. I aspire to know God’s love more every day. His love is revealed in His Word and I want to live it out and experience it. I get beautiful glimpses of His love when I let Him be God and when my faith is bigger than my fears. That is when I can trust Him to be the faithful God that He is and His love gets loud.

I am a curious person by nature so exploring God is captivating to me. One thing I find very fascinating is that when I ask the Lord to unveil who He is and to let me know more about Himself, He does it in a big way. God wants you and me to get closer and closer to Him. In order to know Him better, we have to find out what He is like. His Word is alive and it describes Him accurately. Now, take this accurate description and blend it with the author of the Book of Life and you get a perfect picture of the Savior. The Author, the Holy Spirit, praises Jesus, lifts Him up and refers to Him all the time. When we explore God, we learn about His Son. We get attached to the Son of Man because He is so loving and His love is contagious.

I got the “Jesus bug” a while back and I don’t want to get rid of it. His contagious joy and peace can be transferred to others. It is incredible that we have a God who allows us to imitate Him and to be more like Him so that the world can see Him through our words and actions. I am in love with a God whose love saved me and whose love reaches out to the world so the world might be saved. I will continue to explore Him. The better I know Him, the better I can represent Him. The better I know Him, the better I know myself. I find my identity in Him and I am thrilled that my quest to know Him more will never be satisfied but it will always bring me more and more joy. Explore the Lord for yourself and you will see that there is truly no one like Him!

Let God redefine your life

We all have needs. Your needs might be very different from mine. Your needs might be something I don’t have to worry about. My needs might be something that is not a need for you at all. My needs might seem big to me but small to you. My needs might be met in your life and part of a struggle in my life. What I have learned is that God sees all our needs and none of them are too big or too small for Him. He sees them. He understands them and He can provide for them. Now, He also defines our needs according to His will. Sometimes what we need is not truly a need. It sounds confusing but when you bring your needs to the Lord and you let Him take care of them, He defines them. He helps give clarity as to what we need. I used to have a list of needs that were more desires than needs. God helped me define some of those needs as desires and He opened my mind to what I truly needed.

I love how God can redefine our lives and write a definition in line with His love and in line with His truth. We all need God’s redefinitions. We all need to bring everything to God in prayer and to let Him guide us and change us. Today I want to encourage you to let God redefine you. Let Him redefine not only your needs but your thoughts, your ideas, your desires and your disposition. Letting Him change us can be a tough process at the beginning because we have to let go of so much but it is the best thing we can do if we want to grow in the things of the Lord. Once you are all in, you will discover that God’s definition of you is wonderful. It is beautiful and it is full of love. He didn’t write you into this life with a pencil of anger and wrath. He wrote a beautiful story and you are the main character in it with Him. Your goal is for you to recognize that He should be the main character in your story and that you can’t live without Him. He defines your story, He defines your life and He defines you. Let God redefine your life.

When I got saved, I was fairly young but I had a few things in place in my life. I had some principles, some ideas about how to lead my life and some truths I held on to. After some time, God shook my realities and made me question some of my beliefs. I was brought up with some Christian values that have stayed with me my whole life. Some other values were imposed by my environment and by some ideologies that sounded great but that completely went against what God is all about. God injected love in my heart and in my thinking. Not only was it love for Him and for others but He also showed me that because He loved me, He would always take care of me. I didn’t have to worry and fear. I didn’t have to hold on to possessions to make sure I would make it in this life. He became my life and redefined everything. I had to let go and let God as they say.

Material goods including money represented security to me. I felt safe if I had lots of money in the bank. I believed it was what I needed. I was wrong and God rectified that mindset. He opened me to a new reality where love was a currency, faith was a precious possession and peace was a rule of thumb. The needs that I had were not what God wanted for me. I didn’t need that list of “must haves”. What I needed the most was a strong connection and relationship with Him. He would then take care of everything else. I need to trust and not to thrust my way to the top of the social ladder. He demonstrated over and over again that my desires should be His desires and He transformed my heart. I am not done but I have accepted how God keeps redefining me and my thoughts. He is so worth it. He deserves the best seat in my house. Enjoy how God can change you and make you more like Him. His redefinitions are phenomenal!

Hope beyond the clouds

What will tomorrow bring? I often asked myself that question. Back then I thought that since today was bad, tomorrow would be even worse. I expected the worst. I didn’t know any better. The future looked bleak and hope was nowhere to be found. I waited for bad things to happen because it seemed like a natural flow. I was in a negative flow all the time and there was no chance I could jump off that flow and land on a better ground. The ground beneath my feet was always shaky. There was no stability. I had no firm place to stand. I was in sinky sand a lot and I got used to it. It is sad when you have a lot of problems and it is even sadder when you are used to them and they are all you know. Then I found the light. Then there was a glimmer of hope in the dark room I had been living. It was as if someone had finally opened the door to let in some change and to allow me to see that my future could be brighter than my past. I had never known that it was possible but that tiny glimmer of hope is all I needed to understand that behind dark clouds there is a sun that never stops shining. The Lord entered my life. I was introduced to Him and I was made aware that He had been behind those clouds the whole time. Nowadays when I find myself in a tough spot and things start to get dark again, I remember that God is still there and that above the clouds there is hope. Hope beyond the cloud is a daily reminder that I cherish. Today I want to remind you that there is hope beyond the clouds. There is a sun, the Lord, that is always bright and always full of life and hope. Look beyond the clouds. Look for hope. It is never gone!

The last time I was in a cloudy season, I almost fell into the trap of thinking that things would not get better. I was made to believe that my spring and my summer would never come. The Lord did not let me go down that road and He took me down memory lane where all things had always worked out. He showed me how He had been faithful through the years and encouraged me to stay in faith because nothing and no one could change how much He loved me. He pointed out that the season might be tough but I would come out of it stronger. I would learn to weather some of the worst storms. He was right, of course. Once I made up my mind that I was not going to let the weather dictate my mood and my disposition, things got better. I decided to let the Lord be the barometer and the thermometer for my emotions and my reactions. He is good all the time and something good will always come out of the circumstances we are in when we trust Him.

I looked beyond the clouds. I focused on Jesus and not on the storm. I walked on water by holding His hand. I held on to hope. I declared hope. I stayed in the refuge of His hands. I looked at the clouds and commanded them to move. You see, at times you have to show the authority you have in the name of Jesus and make bold declarations. Boldness came out of me and I stood my ground. The clouds didn’t budge and neither did my faith. I was determined to stay in faith. What did I have to lose? It is when we are fervent and we don’t give up, that the negativity loses its grip. The Bible says “Resist the devil and he will flee.” I resisted and resisted and refused to be pessimistic about the situation and he packed his bags and moved. Don’t let him occupy your mind and take up space that doesn’t belong to him. Kick him to the curb and evict him. He lives in those dark clouds and tries to make you believe that you live there as well.

When you go through a difficult season, you often end up developing a sense of belonging. You think that problems and trials are part of your home. You sleep in the bedroom of fear and you eat in the dining room of worry. Your entire home is filled with sadness and hopelessness. However, that negativity is not your habitation. You belong with the Lord and where He is is where you should be. Go past the clouds. Get to the Heavens so to speak. Pray your way through the cloudiness. Reach out to God and He will draw closer to you. When you pray, tell Him that you know there is hope beyond the clouds and you won’t let the clouds intimidate you. Hope will come back. Hope will be right there with you again. Those clouds, those problems, are temporary. With the Lord you are going to soar and go beyond the dark clouds. Your future is bright. Your cloudy day today doesn’t mean that there is no sun for you tomorrow. God will make you smile again. Don’t worry. Great things are coming your way. The Lord is preparing amazing moments that will make you forget today’s gloominess and sorrow. There is hope beyond the clouds and its name is Jesus!

10 nuggets of wisdom for your Saturday (Part 134)

Take the time to say what the Lord wants you to pray about. Take the time to pray for those who have lost their way. Take the time to pray for a world that needs healing. Take the time to pray for those who are down and in need of love. Take the time to pray and God will make a way!

There isn’t a single person you will meet that Jesus didn’t die for. Treat everyone as someone the Lord adores because that is the truth. Jesus’ love is unconditional and it is not reserved for a specific group. He groups everyone under the same cross. Remember that next time you deal with someone who is hard to love!

Hope is near. It is on the tip of your tongue and on the bottom of your heart. Dig it out from your spirit and speak it into existence. Hope will rise and faith will get strengthened.

God wants us to be comfortable but conceited. Find comfort in Him and run away from pride and self-righteousness. Your righteousness is in the Lord!

Turn off the light that has been blinding your mind and turn on the light of the Word that will enlighten your heart.

Step by step you are making progress. God sees how hard you are trying. It doesn’t matter if the world doesn’t recognize your progress. God is the One who will always celebrate your victories. Keep walking step by step!

Your world might be upside down today but the Lord will put it back in a way that will make you forget that one day your world was bad in many ways. Trust that the world can change your world in His own amazing way!

Prayer soothes the soul and encourages the mind. Prayer fortifies your heart and touches your body. Prayer is the power that can transform you from head to toe.

You have been laboring alone for too long. The Spirit of God is on your side. Connect with Him. Stay with Him. Communicate with Him. He will show you that you are never alone and that Jesus made sure you would have the best companion in the world!

When you feel defeated and depleted, turn to the One who can fill your cup to the brim and who can give you rest. God will revitalize you and give you strength.

God is good all the time

“God is good all the time” has been a powerful phrase used in Christian circles for a while now. It sounds good. It is reassuring but when you sit down and think about it, it is more than that. It is not just a popular phrase. It is a declaration to live by. If we live our lives with the awareness that God is good all the time, we have a way of handling anything life throws at us in a drastic way. If God is good all the time then He is good today, He will be good tomorrow and He was good yesterday. If God is good all the time, He is good no matter what happens to me and no matter how I feel. If God is good all the time, it doesn’t matter what I think or what I believe that is contradictory to God. He is still good. If God is good all the time, my problems, my pain and my fears can’t change God. If God is good all the time, the devil can be as bad as he wants, he won’t remove God’s goodness from Him.

Well the truth is that God is indeed good all the time and that truth will set you free, friend. Apply it to your life. Apply it to what happens to you. Apply it to your thoughts. Apply it as much as you can. By applying it, I mean that you should hold it against events and things in your life. Anything that elevates itself above the Lord should come to submission to His great name and to His goodness. Anything that is negative should be squashed with the truth that God is good all the time and He will see you through all the time. Today I want to encourage you to declare that God is good all the time and to see what that means for your life.

When something bad happens, we tend to wonder how God could let such a terrible thing take place. I have heard people say that if God existed or if He were good then bad things shouldn’t happen. The Bible explains that the devil is the king of this world and therefore there is negativity everywhere. He has access to everything and everyone and he can make life a living hell. Some people experience very traumatic events while others seem to have quite a good life. Now, if someone doesn’t know Jesus as his or her personal Savior, it doesn’t matter how bad or good their life is. They could be a millionaire or they could be the most popular person on the planet, as long as Jesus is not their Lord and Savior, their life is that living hell I was talking about. When we accept Jesus into our lives, that hell goes away and His goodness is manifested in our lives first through salvation. However, being saved does not mean that we will never suffer or we will never have problems.

Sometimes because we are saved and we are winning souls for the Lord, our lives are made more complicated. The enemy will always try to stop God’s work but that shouldn’t stop us from spreading God’s love and goodness. God will be good no matter how bad the enemy is. That revelation shed some major light in my life. If the enemy messes up with my life and hurts me, it doesn’t diminish God’s goodness. When the going gets tough, our awareness of God’s goodness can help us get through the hard times. Why? When we recognize that God is always good, we praise Him all the time. We honor Him. We exalt Him and we respect Him. These are all actions that bring deliverance because they bring the Spirit of the Lord into the scene and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Remember how good God is today. Write it on the walls of your heart and say it out loud. You will stir up your faith and confuse the enemy.

The Lord is a stronghold on the days of trouble. Your bad days can seem to be extremely bad but the Lord’s goodness is a stronghold. It can’t be altered and it can’t be deleted. It is a force to reckon with. It is indestructible and invincible. Next time you are having a bad day, call on the goodness of God. Say how much bigger and stronger the goodness of God is. Stand your ground. God’s goodness is holding you and blessing you. You are protected. You have a refuge. God’s goodness is your refuge. It is a place of peace and a palace of hope. I love calling it a palace because it underlines the majesty of the Lord. His hope is housed in a palace that is magnificent. God’s goodness is beautiful! On the walls of the palace of hope are paintings of God’s goodness. You are in the paintings. You are there with a smile and with peace on your face. God is so good that He sent His Son so you can be that smiling person in the painting. Know that things are going to get better. Turn to Jesus. He is going to get you out of that mess. You are going to smile again and you are going to be at peace again. God is good all the time. Let His goodness show you how much He loves you. Stay in faith. The best is yet to come!

Put on the Word of God every day

Yesterday morning when I was praying I saw myself putting on Jesus. I was putting on a robe that was Jesus. I didn’t see His face or anything but I just knew it was Jesus. I was getting dressed and my outfit was a robe of Jesus. What was also very interesting is that I was standing there and someone was dressing me up. I saw pages of the Bible dressing me up. I was standing there smiling and the Word of God was doing all the work. It was one of those powerful visions that warms your heart and that gives a boost to your faith. I continued to pray and I heard “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” The Holy Spirit has a beautiful way of reminding us of what the Bible says. He is also the best at giving us the messages we need to hear. There is power in the Word and when we stay in the Word and the Word is what we put on every day, we can walk in faith, in love and in confidence that the Lord is faithful and true.

God makes everything so much better when we remain in Him. Putting on Jesus implies dying to self and letting Him be in charge. It means not putting on anything else but Him. Not accepting anything else but Him. It’s letting the Word of God cover us and comfort us. It’s giving the Word priority and trusting that it is supreme in our lives. When you put on an outfit, you usually put on something you like and something that fits you. When the Word of God is your spiritual outfit, you like to wear it because you enjoy it and it fits you. The Word can fit anyone. You are no exception, friend. God is for everyone. Jesus died for everyone. Today I want to encourage you to make the Word of God your daily outfit. Put on Jesus and let go of the outfits the world wants you to wear. Let the Bible dress you up with love, peace, patience, joy, self-control, meekness, long-suffering, hope, dedication, perseverance and other good fruit. When Jesus is all you wear, you don’t need to put on anything else!

It does look funny when you see yourself putting on the robe of the Word of God. I saw writings and I saw peace and love in both sleeves. I can’t explain it but it was so real. I love how the Holy Spirit speaks and I love that He always directs us toward Jesus. He said that if we keep the words of the Lord in us, we can ask anything and it will happen. Keeping His words is also staying in line with His words. It’s being in tune with His truth. Now, we need to know the Word in order to be able to let it remain in us. I try to study the Word daily. I know how important it is. Not spending any time in the Word of God is like opening ourselves to wrong doctrines. We won’t have the ability to judge what is from God and what is not. If you are supposed to read a book for school and you don’t read it, you will guess the content based on the title and based on what you have heard about it.

God doesn’t want us to go by hearsay but by what He says. You might be thinking that you don’t have time for the Word. I suggest making time and rearranging your priorities because the Word of God is life. You can’t do life without the Word. You can’t have a successful life without the Word. You might be chasing millions and making a fortune on Wall Street but without God’s wisdom your riches have no substance. God is His Word. The more you know His Word, the more you know Him. Don’t fool yourself and think you can know God without opening His Word. The God you will end up getting familiar with will be anything but Jesus.

What happens exactly when you put on Jesus or you put on His Word? Your prayers are answered because they are in agreement with the Lord and they are said in faith. Faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God. When His Word remains in you, you are bound to be living in faith. Daily Bible reading, meditating and praying will guarantee growth of your faith. The other beautiful thing about letting God’s Word remain in us is that it makes us disciples of the Lord. It makes us fervent and dedicated disciples. Jesus said that all of this is to His Father’s glory. Embrace the Word of God and let it become a part of you, the biggest part of you and you will be doing it all to God’s glory. It is when we let the Word sink in and come out of us at all times that we are showing ourselves to be disciples of the Lord.

When the enemy attacks our minds and the Word of God is our natural reply against the attack, we are filled with the power of God. His Word is power. It is a power that bears much fruit as well. When the Lord is in you, you will produce great fruit and you will see that the fruit of the Spirit is growing in you. Putting on the Word of God is also dressing up with love. Love is the best garment we can put on. Put on Jesus and the enemy will flee. Put on Jesus and you will walk in love. Put on Jesus and you will be rooted in the truth. Put on the Word of God every day and you will be dressed for success!
