When you get to the end of your rope

When you get to the end of your rope, the Lord is on the other side. He is there pulling you gently toward Him. His sweet nudge can be hard to perceive but His Spirit will open your eyes to His love that is drawing you closer to Him. If you feel like you are at the end of your rope today, pray for that nudge to be revealed. Pray for your eyes to be open. Pray for love. Pray for God’s love. Open up your heart. Be transparent with God. Cry out to Him and let Him know you can’t see His love; you can’t feel His touch and you can’t make it without His mercy and grace. God loves you to the moon and back and He is there holding that rope that you think is useless at this point. The end of your rope is the start of God. He will pick up where hope left off. He will give you the courage and the desire to keep going. He is about to inject you with a strong dose of hope that will keep you going. Don’t give up. God is not giving up on you. He knows you can make it. He knows you can make it through Him. He is the strength you need. He is the love that is missing. Love will make a way. His love will make a way. If you are at the end of your rope, let God pull you toward Him. The end won’t happen until He says it’s over and it will end well with Him!

Know that God has been at the end of your rope before
. Jesus reached the end of the universal rope for you and me. He did it not only for our sins but to also to give us salvation, freedom, to heal us and lead to where we can be more like Him. At the cross He saw you. He saw your struggle; He saw your pain. He felt your tears. He felt your agony. He saw your mind and He saw your heart. He knew what went on inside of you. Your thoughts of despair and of ending it were all there in front of Him. He took them and made them His own and they died with Him. He came back to life with the victory that you and I will need every day of our lives. Your problem today, your discouragement and your suffering were conquered on the cross. Jesus gave them the death sentence. It’s time you and I lived like justice was served. It is all taken care of. Your rope might look like it’s cut but God has a way of restoring everything and your rope is going to be much longer than you can imagine. Hang on to it because Jesus is on the other side holding it and keeping it sturdy for you.

If people in this world haven’t been able to help you, know that our God who is in this world but also out of this world, has all the help you need.
He will bring relief and peace and give you serenity in ways that no one else can. The Lord adores you and He will give you a piece of Heaven so you can deal with the harshness of the earth. Life throws things our way that make it seem like it’s the end. God gives us hope to help us deal with the feeling of the end. There is always more. God always gives more. When it looks like it’s over, there is more to come. Friend, hold on to hope. Don’t get discouraged. There is an abundance of love and peace coming your way. God will give you what you need. His timing is precious and it is perfect. Stay with Him while you are waiting. Stay in faith and let hope take over. Celebrate that the Lord your God will never leave you. He is adding miles to your rope and you are going to do amazing things thanks to Him and have wonderful times sponsored by His love. If you are at the end of your rope, know that God is the owner of that rope and He won’t let you down. Stay encouraged!

10 nuggets of wisdom for your Saturday (Part 103)

God is not always a blessing in disguise. He is a blessing in plain sight. He dresses the part and He shows Himself the way He truly is. The question is, are we recognizing the blessing?

Jesus gets in the way when there is no way. He makes a way and blows you away with His mysterious ways!

Consider God as the highest source for everything. Highest source for life, love, peace, freedom, wisdom, victory, deliverance, truth and joy.

Some people are only in your life for a season and only God knows the reason. Don’t try to figure out the departures and arrivals. God is in charge of everyone’s journey.

Some doors are more like windows. They are shorter and thinner so the opportunities are fewer but they are still there. Ask God to reveal the doors and the windows in your life.

Put one foot forward in faith and keep walking in love. Put the other foot forward in faith and keep running your race. Put one foot forward in faith and let God show you the way. Put the other foot forward and see how God leads you to amazing places one step at a time.

Stress and anxiety are conduits for the enemy to get into our lives. They are open doors for negativity and depression. Open the door to faith and hope and positivity will follow you everywhere.

Peace is what God gives and what we should expect. The absence of peace doesn’t mean the absence of God but God can make peace present even when there is turmoil and chaos.

The Lord gives us notifications about how much He loves us. They are reminders of His goodness and kindness. Let’s be aware of those promptings and embrace His loving nudges.

Your breakthrough will come true. Your blessings will show up. Your answers will come. Your deliverance will manifest. Your Lord will keep His promises. Your current misery is not the end!

Let God your refuge be your filter

When I get overwhelmed by everything that is going on in my life I go to my Refuge. The Lord has been my refuge for a while but I have learned recently how to find refuge in Him.  He has always been there but I have not always been open to His presence. He is my Rock and my Protector. He is the best place to be. Some people find refuge in alcohol and drugs or some other types of addiction. Food can be a refuge for others. We all have our go-to place where relief can be felt. I have found that many places of refuge give us temporary satisfaction and long-lasting addiction that doesn’t bring real peace. When I made the Lord my only place of refuge, my life took a turn for the best. I still have problems and trials. They will never go away but my Rock, my Refuge follows me wherever I go. I can go to Him when I am on the mountain top or when I am buried in the agony of the valley. God is my refuge, my ever-lasting help in times of trouble and I go to Him all the time. I don’t wait for the storm to come to spend time with Him. He is my life, my shield, my joy, my peace. He is my habit, my lifestyle. I am learning to live life through Him. He is my filter for everything and that what matters to me. Do you have God as your filter for life? Do you go through Him to get to all the places you visit every day? If not, I am inviting you today on this beautiful journey of having the Lord as the filter for your life. Let Him be your Refuge, your fortress and your filter.

I have a few students who have no filter. When they talk, they say whatever goes through their minds. They speak without thinking. It comes with the age group but it is also a characteristic of some adults as you might know. Having no filter can be detrimental because anything goes, good or bad comes out. More often than not what comes out is not good. Living life without a filter means that anything goes. Anything good or bad comes out. We let life happen and we let it take control without restrain or check. When I found out that God was my refuge, I decided to let Him be my filter. How He sees life, how He approaches life became important to me. Having the creator of the world be the lens through which I can see everything impacted me greatly. He is my buffer, my shield. When life gives me headaches, God is my medicine. I take a few pills of His Word and life is more manageable and pleasant. They say life is 10 % what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. Let God be your 90%, let Him be your filter. React to life with God. React to life with peace, joy and love. Let your refuge be the place from where you react to life all the time.

A refuge is a comfortable place. When you are in your refuge, you feel safe and you can enjoy yourself. When God is your refuge and your filter, you feel safe and comfortable wherever you go. It doesn’t matter what happens to you and where you find yourself, your mind has the filter that makes everything better. Have you ever thought of a refuge as a filter? It makes sense with God because He is our protector and when you put Him between life events and yourself, you can only expect good things. When you have a job interview, filter your fears and your apprehension with your Refuge. When you have money issues, filter your emotions and your anxiety with your Refuge. When you don’t know what to do anymore, filter your doubts with your Refuge. Let Him be the place you run to all the time. He can handle anything. He can give you everything. He can bless you in everything. He can direct you through everything and He can protect you against anything. Let the Lord our God be the filter in all you do. Let Him be your refuge against fear, doubt and anxiety. Filter all negativity through His protective arms. You will have nothing to fear and nothing to worry about!

God is a refiner

To refine is to remove impurities or unwanted elements from a substance. It also means to improve by making small changes or making something more subtle and accurate. God is the ultimate refiner. He purifies, He changes and He removes impurities like no other. Our lives can’t be the same when we let the Refiner do His job. How willing are you to let the Refiner do something new and pure in your life? Are you willing to give Him your life so He can refine it? It’s not a sacrifice. It’s an honor and a privilege. Coming to the realization that the Lord can refine our lives is a blessing. Preparing ourselves to being refined and changed by Him is priceless.

The fire of the Holy Spirit can refine us and burn all things that weigh us down and that we don’t need. I present my life to the Lord on the altar of His love and I ask for refinement and change but I need to let go first and let God be in control. We can’t hold on to our lives with both hands and hope the Lord will take them away from us by force. He is gentle. He is caring and loving and He won’t remove what we love dearly. It’s a lesson I am learning and my goal is to get to a point where God can purify my heart without my ego or my insecurities getting in the way. Today I want to invite you to give all of you to the Lord and let Him refine you. Burn for Him and only for Him with a heart that is surrendered.

The process of refinement and purification is not always an easy process. Like I mentioned before there is a need for letting go and being open to the fire of the Lord. Burning is a powerful action that results in transformation. In the natural when we burn something it comes out looking differently. There is a transfiguration that happens. When God burns us, He changes us for the best. The process leads to beauty. He burns the ugliness and leaves us looking beautiful. We come out of the ashes and we rise up thanks to a touch of His love. God will take the worst parts of our lives and refine them. He can take our shortcomings and our worst traits and refine them. His burning process leaves a mark on our soul and spirit.

The mark of the Lord shows through the light that comes forth when we have been refined. The process will not always be easy but it is always worth it. David asked the Lord to purify his heart and renew his spirit. His prayer wasn’t in vain. God has the power to purify any heart and renew any spirit. You and I are examples of how God renews spirits. We got saved and with salvation came the transformation of our spirits. That was just the beginning. Now we have to press on and allow the Lord to purify us continually.

I am not sure we are always aware of what needs to be purified in our lives. The Holy Spirit can convice us and show us what needs to be put through the holy fire of the Lord. The Lord’s Spirit can open our eyes to all the areas that need to be refined. Besides, God the refiner is excellent at changing parts of our lives that are not in line with His will. I am not just talking about sin and the purification of what we do. I am referring to fine tuning the situations in our lives. Problems and trials can also go through the refining process. If there is something in your life that is not going well or that is not where it should be, call on the Lord, the Refiner.

The Lord will make things right. He will tune your life so it is in harmony and goodness will follow you. He will burn the tribulations and put them through His fire until you have the victory. God the refiner can do that and He will do it if you put your life in His hands. Don’t hesitate to give it all to Him. Give Him the good things and the bad things. He will do what He does best and make everything be in line with His will for you life. Let God the refiner refine your circumstances and bring you peace and joy again! He is going to improve you and make changes that will transform your life.

10 nuggets of wisdom for your Saturday (Part 102)

Stay where faith is. Don’t travel down the aisles of doubt and don’t get stuck in the corners of fear. Stay with God. Fortify the faith in you but staying within the house of the Lord. Don’t stray from faith. Protect it and guard it with all your heart, within your heart!

Let praise lead you into worship and adoration. Praise is the getaway into worship. Praise by focusing on what the Lord does and then worship by focusing on who God is. Praise and worship go hand in hand. Keep them together and you will be strong in faith.

God wants you to move. He keeps you in one place until you are ready to move to a higher level but He won’t keep you where you are. He will take you from faith to faith. He will help you grow your mustard seed and He will show you greater glory.

You can manifest your breakthrough with faith. Faith is the platform from which God can act. Let your platform be sturdy so your miracle can stand on it and jump into reality. Work on your faith because it is pleasing to God and it changes everything.

God is love” doesn’t mean that He is reserved for a certain class of people. God is love for everyone. God loves everyone. God loves. Period. He doesn’t love just the ones we choose to love. He loves the ones He says He loves and that includes everyone, no exception.

Rituals, doctrines and principles of a religious nature can destroy the work of the Lord. Jesus came to bring the good news of salvation and religion comes to bring the destruction of His salvation. Religion limits who gets into salvation. Jesus welcomes everyone into salvation. Religion stifles love. Jesus gives love!

The truth will set love, peace, joy, faith, patience and all the fruit of the Spirit free. If you are faced with a truth that doesn’t set them free, free yourself from that truth.

There is a constant rain from Heaven that pours blessings on those who believe. Don’t shy away from the rain from Heaven. Don’t get discouraged when you are experiencing the drought of the earth. Stay in faith and the rain will come. Let your praise and worship lead you into a rain dance. The rain will come!

When God speaks, those with ears listen. When God listens, those with mouths of faith speak. Be an oracle of faith and talk to God and be an even better listener and tune into His Spirit.

Your race is unique and it is God-made. You are not running against others. You are not competing against the world. You are in a lane designed just for you. Keep your eyes on the Lord before you and you will run a beautiful race. Keep the faith!

What is your purpose in life?

Do you ever wonder what your purpose is? Do you ever wonder what your mission is on this earth if there is one at all? Do you ever think that other people’s purpose is greater than yours? What is a purpose and what is a life mission? A purpose is a reason for being and a life mission is the task that should be fulfilled in our lifetime. Those are my definitions but I think they encompass the meaning of those words. A life mission and a purpose give meaning to our lives. Some people believe that their purpose is to make tons of money and leave a financial legacy. Some other people think that their purpose is to live a good life and make the most of it without caring about consequences. Those people often use the excuse “we only live once.” To me purpose leads to action which leads to fulfillment and ends with some type of closure. Is legacy always needed when it comes to purpose? That is a good question. I think that we can attach legacy to purpose when we think that our life mission is meant to have an impact on the world and we want to leave something behind so we can be remembered, so that our work can be remembered. I strongly believe that my purpose and my life mission are found in Christ. I was made by the Lord for the Lord. My mission here is to become more like Him. It’s to be centered in Him, to love Him and to love people. I don’t want to add much more to that purpose. Everything should revolve around it. There are branches and subcategories but the main idea is to love God, love people and be more like the Lord.

I have talked about running our own races before and our purpose in life is found within the confines of that race. We are not running against others but we are running in our own lane keeping our eyes on the Lord. He is the prize that starts the race with us. He is the prize that has no price. He is the prize who gives us salvation and redemption. He is the prize who crafted the reason behind our life mission. He is the starting block at the racetrack and the finish line. He is the author and the finisher of our faith. Why run if not to win against some type of competition? This race is about building ourselves up and reaching the goal of becoming more life Jesus. The Lord has the perfect pace for the race and the perfect timing for each step along the way. He has the power to help us overcome the hurdles and the falls. He has the love we need to win every battle and conquer every trial. This race was specifically designed for you and me. Your race is unique and so is mine but the one thing they have in common is Jesus. He is the purpose and the mission. Knowing Him is the ideal goal and sharing Him is a noble purpose. As the creator of your race, the Lord knows all the terrain you will cover and all the distance you will run. Trust that He can show you every meter and every yard of the race. Trust that your race is feasible and you will get to the finish line thanks to Him. Let His Spirit reveal all the stages of the race one by one. Don’t run ahead of the Lord; run with the Lord!

When you think about how you were made for God and by God, it changes the way you see your life. The problem is that we easily lose sight of our purpose and why we are here. We can enjoy the riches of the world and its beauty but the One who made the world is the One we should be living for. It doesn’t mean that we should be living lives in seclusion from the world. We are in this world to make an impact for the Lord and if we avoid the world, there will be no collision with the Lord. We also shouldn’t wait until tomorrow for our mission to get under way. Our purpose doesn’t start ten years from now. It is here and it has been with us. There is so much we could be doing now to love people, to know Jesus and to share Jesus. If we take a look at our lives, we will find many areas where we could be spreading God’s love and doing His will. It doesn’t matter what job you have; you can share Jesus by being a good follower of His love and simply walking in pure love. You don’t need a placard with Jesus on it; you just need your heart with His name on it. Don’t think that your everyday life doesn’t amount to much in the pursuit of the Kingdom. Give meaning to your life by getting closer to the Kingdom where you are. How? Do whatever you do as if you were doing it for the Lord and do it in love. That is how you will fulfill your purpose and you will not miss a step while running your race. Let God give meaning to all you do by being the reason for everything you do. God has a plan for you. It is huge and He will show you the blueprint little by little. You have the foundation. Love is the foundation. Start with that and your mission will become clearer. God is going to define your life mission. Your purpose is in Him. Just trust Him!

How to develop a stronger spiritual core

Saturday morning when I woke up, the Lord told me to go into my prayer room and not pray in bed like I usually do. As soon as my knees hit the floor in the prayer room, the messages came fast and furious. The first thing He wanted me to focus on was my core. He said that strengthening our spiritual core was essential. It is a lot more important than we think. I then meditated on that message and I let the Holy Spirit guide me through the deeper meaning of what He was telling me. I saw myself working out and getting my core stronger. That image was very helpful. I used to work with a personal trainer and his goal was to help me get a strong core. He would have me do the plank. The first time I did it, I thought I was going to pass out after a few seconds. He said that people can stay in that position for minutes. That seemed impossible to me. However, after months of diligent and consistent work, I was able to do the plank and maintain it for a few minutes. As a matter of fact, doing the plank became easy. I wasn’t short of breath as quickly and I could feel how much stronger my core was. The Spirit explained that life often stretches us and we find ourselves in a plank situation where we have to be strong. If our core is not strong, we will fall. I understood what He was getting at and I opened myself up to finding out how to get a stronger spiritual core. We can’t do it by ourselves. We need a coach to motivate us otherwise we can get discouraged. Even the people who think they have managed to a get a strong spiritual core on their own had some help. We can’t grow spiritually without the Holy Spirit.

What does it take to get a stronger spiritual core? First, we must recognize that the Lord is at the core of this process. He is the core we are trying to strengthen. It doesn’t mean that He needs to become stronger. It just means that our connection with Him has to grow. He is the core and we should rely on the core to live a good spiritual life. Jesus illustrated this idea beautifully when He said that He was the vine and we were the branches. The vine is at the core of the plant so to speak. It is the stem. Jesus is the stem. The branches depend on Him. We depend on Him. Jesus explained that if we remain in Him and He remains in us, we would bear much fruit. Bearing fruit is a major goal of anyone who wants to grow spiritually. We can see people’s effective spiritual lives when they bear fruit. Bearing fruit is a demonstration of the intimate relationship we have with God. When He is our everything, everything blooms. What we do prospers. What we think lines up with His mind. What we say echoes His heart. Staying in the Lord is how we can develop our core. Putting Him at the center of everything we do and making sure He is our priority will allow us to have a strong foundation. When life events try to destabilize us and to disrupt our plank, Jesus in us will keep us strong and we won’t fall.

Once we have the Lord as our priority, we ought to follow Him and let Him fill us up. I love the concept of being filled up with the Lord. We are vessels of God and we shouldn’t remain empty vessels. We should avoid getting filled with the world. God can’t use vessels that worship the world. He is looking for people who will die to self and give Him full access. He wants to dwell in us and stay with us in ways that surpass all understanding. The more space you give Him, the stronger you will get in Him. In order to strengthen your core, you must give the Lord as much space and time as you can. Prayer is one of those muscles that when exercised a lot, become a strong place of refuge. I go to my prayer room more and more and spend time in prayer as long as I can. That means watching fewer tv shows. That means giving up a few activities that get in the way. I am not saying you should do the same thing but it is a good idea to look at your life and see what gets in the way of prayer. Whatever it is has to diminish and prayer has to increase. That is the best way to develop your spiritual core. Work on the muscles of praise, worship and gratitude as well. During my morning session on Saturday, the Lord encouraged me to go back to having praise and worship sessions detached from my prayer time. It’s great to have both but we can just have praise sessions and worship the Lord as well. Praise and worship are the two habits that have made my spiritual core grow the most through the years. If you don’t have those habits yet, I recommend that you make them your own. Keep Jesus at the center. Pray, praise, worship and be thankful. Spend time in the Word of God and last but not least, continue to walk in love. Love is the power behind it all. Without love, your core will get weak again. Happy core training!
