God will make you breathe under water

I like to go deep in prayer in the morning and that’s why I wake up at 5 am. I have about an hour to spend some quality time in the Lord. The other morning when I was praying, the Lord gave me a very interesting visual. I saw myself under water. I was almost at the bottom of the ocean. Now, that was not a great sight because I am not a diver and I am not a great swimmer. In the vision I did have an oxygen tank on my back and the Lord suggested that I spent time meditating on what this meant. The oxygen tank allowed me to be under water and to move around. I looked pretty comfortable which was very interesting because being under water for me would be a chaotic experience and I would panic. I realized that the oxygen tank was a great help. It made me feel like I wasn’t under water and I could move around and do things that I could usually do when I am on the ground. The message was about the oxygen tank. The air I was getting was God. When I am going through tough times, God is the air I need. He helps me breathe under water. He gives me the oxygen that I need. He is the oxygen tank that keeps me safe and that keeps me alive.

I thought about it more and I saw many oxygen tanks. They all seemed to be on my back and they didn’t look heavy at all. As a matter of fact, they were light. The Lord’s yoke is light. What He has to give us is light. His love is light. His peace is light. His promises are light. His blessings are light. His joy is light. God will never give us anything burdensome and heavy. That is what the enemy does. God is there to remove the burdens and the weight of the enemy. Even when we are under water and we are drawing in our problems, God can remove the problems and give us peace. Those oxygen tanks I saw all represented parts of the fruit of the Spirit and they were blessings in the middle of chaos. They were freedom and deliverance. They were God’s ability to make us breathe under water. Our problems can be giants and they can appear to be invincible but the Lord Almighty has the power to tear down our problems and to give us peace and joy when we are swimming with the sharks of the enemy.

God will make you breathe under water, friend. It seems impossible but know that nothing can stop Him from blessing you. Sometimes the rocky waters push you away from the shore and you have to swim aimlessly hoping that you will find a land some time soon. I have been there. I have been in situations where there was no land in sight and my only hope was a small buoy that I was holding on for dear life. That buoy was the hope of the Lord and although it was small at times, it was there and that is all that mattered. There were other times when my mind got carried away and hope diminished. In those times I found myself at the bottom of the sea and breathing was extremely hard. However, God in all His glory has given me oxygen tanks when I least expected them. Joy, peace, love and hope came to my rescue and the Lord orchestrated the whole process. He is good and He is very generous. I don’t know what kind of waters you are facing today but I am here to tell you that God will make you breathe under water and He will bring you to shore. Stay strong. Stay encouraged. There is an oxygen tank coming your way. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

God is doing something new

Yesterday was one of those days when I woke up with a mountain of hope and my spirit was on top of the world. This great amount of joy and hope was partly due to the fact that I had rested during the weekend. Resting and getting enough sleep is so crucial. When we are tired, our flesh takes over and even though our spirit is willing, it is easier for our flesh to dominate us. I try to sleep at least 7 hours a night. When I woke up yesterday, I started with prayer like I always do. I started with praise, worship and thanksgiving and I heard in my heart something that set the tone for the day. The Holy Spirit quietly whispered, “Trust the Lord. He is doing a new thing.” The Bible tells us that every day is a new day and that God’s mercies are renewed every day. That is what set my spirit on fire for the Lord. I was appreciative and expectant at the same time. I knew that no matter what would happen yesterday, God was there to do a new thing and I had to trust Him through it all. That beautiful statement resonated with me deeply and I heard it inside for at least an hour. I listened to the sweet voice of the Lord declaring that He was going to do a new thing and that is all I needed to hear.

We spend so much time listening to different voices every day but when we listen to the voice of the Spirit of God and we let it impact us, great things happen. The great thing that happened to me yesterday was the powerful anticipation of what the Lord was going to do and the constant reassurance that He was doing something new. His joy was new yesterday. His peace was new yesterday. His hope was new yesterday. The truth is that they are new every day. You have access to them every day. There are new mercies and new blessings every day. We tend to rely on what happened in the past and we use that as a gauge for what we can expect in the future. We should expect new things. Yes, the blessings from yesterday were great but new ones are coming. We should keep in mind that God is a creator and He loves to create new things. He can create anything. If a breakthrough or a blessing doesn’t exist, you can bet that God can create it just for you. His mercies are new every single day and He has the power to make them come to pass in our lives.

What are you expecting today from God? Are you expecting old blessings? Are you expecting a smile or a wink? I expect a smile and a wink every day. It may sound like an odd expectation but that is what I know I can get from God. His smile is in anything and everything. God can use events, things or people to smile at us and comfort us. He can wink as well. His winks are little events that demonstrate that He is still on the throne. I love that God is smiling at us all the time. That is a true blessing and it is part of His mercies. His smile is there every day and it gives us hope every day. Hope for new blessings and new beginnings. Start your day with the Lord and thank Him for His daily mercies. Thank Him for the peace, the joy and the love He has for you. They will get you through anything. His new mercies are going to grealy bless you and propel you forward. Don’t look back. Today is not going to be like yesterday. Today is loaded with great things that the Lord has in store for you. When you adopt that mindset, you are sharing the mind of Christ. God is going to do new things and great things for you every day. Behold He is doing something new. God is going to do something new for you. Stay encouraged! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

The heavenly combo

There is a combination that the devil dreads and dislikes. It is the combination of having Jesus as our Savior, having faith in Him and being doers of the Word of God. It is a heavenly combo that sounds deadly to the enemy. When we are partakers in that powerful combination, nothing can stop us. We don’t have to have the faith of an apostle. All we need is a mustard seed of faith. A tiny bit of faith goes a long way but it is something that many people are not aware of. Knowing Jesus as our Savior, having a little bit of faith and applying what the Bible says will always save the day. It will not only save the day but it will always pave the way for better days. You see, the great combo I am talking about brings about amazing things into our lives. It brings victory over oppression. It brings blessings day in and day out and it causes a beautiful relationship to develop with Jesus. We ought to be aware of the heavenly combination that produces better. Better than yesterday and better than we can imagine. With God we go from glory to glory and we can expect exceedingly more than our wildest dreams. Better days are ahead of us all the time. God guarantees that we will have better and greater. Our circumstances might be saying otherwise but what God says is what matters the most.

Friend, you haven’t seen your best days yet. You have not stepped into the next level, the next dimension yet. There will always be another place that is better and that is more amazing. Stay in the winning combo and you will experience a life of abundance. You will live out a life where Jesus is magnified, peace is sovereign, joy is your strength, love is your default setting and victory is a lifestyle. You have what it takes to make it in this life and you will make it powerfully. Every day you should remind yourself that Jesus is Lord over everything. The devil might be the king of this world but Jesus is the King of Kings and He will always be greater than the enemy. Greater is the One who is in you, friend, than the devil that is in this world. This truth alone guarantees that things will always improve and get better. The adversity has a different take on what’s happening and what’s going to happen in your life. Don’t worry about his opinion. Go with God’s plans for your life. He has plans to give you more and to stay with you forever. Forever! Forever includes the bad days and the good days. Forever never ends. God’s love for you will never end so expect blessings to never end. Better days are coming and that truth will never end. You have Jesus, you have (some) faith and you apply the Word of God and therefore you have all you need! Expect great things. Expect God things. Expect powerful things. Expect Jesus every day. Bad things will take place. That’s inevitable but Jesus will also happen so to speak. That as well is inevitable!

Applying the Word of God entails walking in faith and walking in love. Faith without love doesn’t work as well. Love is the umbrella that covers every good spiritual fruit. We have love because we are in Christ. Faith tells us that we should express love and love others as ourselves. It’s up to us to follow the lead that faith is giving us. We have an active role to play here and it is not always an easy role. We have reasons to be bitter, to be resentful and to be selfish every single day. The enemy gives us those reasons but it doesn’t mean they are valid at all. We are called to react with love and not with our flesh. God is love and if we are going to successfully navigate through this life with Him we have to walk in love in all circumstances. Love is the glue that ties everything together. Love is the key ingredient that makes the combo work for us. Love is a link that keeps us chained to the truth and that gives Jesus all the glory. He is the most important part of the heavenly combo. Without Him, we are nothing. Without Him, the better days will not come. Without Him, peace, joy and blessings are nowhere to be found. The world can give us a pale imitation but Jesus is the real deal. Keep celebrating Jesus your Savior. Keep walking in faith and walking in love. Keep being a doer of the Word who perseveres and who always expects great things from God. Expect fantastic things to happen in Jesus’ name. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Consider it pure joy

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so you can be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4). Who would think that it is a good idea to consider it pure joy when we face trials? I think we tend to consider it pure torture when we face trials but the Lord doesn’t see it that way. His recommendation is to maintain joy in the midst of trials. He says we should hold on to joy even when things are rocky and chaotic. His joy is our strength and if we remain joyful in the hard times, we will have the power we need to stay strong. Nothing is better than having what it takes to face anything that comes our way. With Jesus we always have what it takes and He has put joy in our hearts so that we can stand tall when the enemy wants us to be small and diminished. Joy increases our potential to face the day. Fear and doubt decrease our ability to deal with life. When they are high, life seems impossible to bear. When we adhere to negative thoughts, we turn up the volume of defeat and failure. When we tap into the joy of the Lord, we turn up the volume of victory and triumph. Today I want to reiterate what the Lord says and encourage you to count it all joy. Don’t get excited because you are suffering. Get excited that you are going to make it through the trials and you are going to get some nice faith muscles.

Trials can be debilitating. A trial is a test, a problem or a difficulty. Problems make us wonder and they make us doubt. Difficulties stall us and make us wonder how we are going to make it. Tests just make us anxious and they hurt our faith. Now, we are not supposed to see trials as the end all be all. We have to think about what we have to deal with the trials and more specifically who we have on our side. The Lord is the solver of all trials. He is the deal breaker. Life deals us a bad hand sometimes and the Lord breaks that deal. He makes things right. He restores and repairs. We can choose to keep our eyes on the deal breaker or we can choose to let the deal break us. We all get dealt some bad cards but the Lord holds us in the palm of His hand and He holds the cards that give us access to a better life, to a better situation and to a better tomorrow. Don’t let the trials of life control your emotions and your feelings. You are going to make it through them thanks to the Lord. Keep thinking about it. Keep thinking of victory and not failure. Keep thinking triumph and not defeat. Keep thinking that it is going to get better and not that it is going to get worse. It could get worse before it gets better but with the Lord, it will get better. Your goal, friend, is to hang in there and keep persevering in faith. The more you do it, the stronger your faith will be. The rewards that come from having a strong faith are endless. You will be able to handle anything the enemy throws at you. Nothing will be impossible to you because of the greater One who lives in you!

Staying joyful when things are bad is ground for more joy. The Lord sees us and He gives us more joy. His joy can multiply and it can bring on even more strength. I remember a time when I had no idea how I was going to make it. I was about to embark on a new journey with a new job and I moved to a new place. I didn’t have much money. I was still a student. It didn’t look like it was wise to look for a place to live and to make a move to another part of the state. I did it all in faith. I didn’t give up on the dream the Lord had put in my heart. He had told me I would be an educator and I would have a choice of where I would like to work. I had tried years before and failed miserably. However, the dream came back stronger and I couldn’t ignore it. I went with it. I applied for two jobs and I was offered both jobs. It was up to me to decide which one I wanted. I prayed about it. The Lord pointed out which one I should choose. I trusted Him. I walked in faith. I turned down one of the jobs and the one I chose actually paid $10,000 more than the other one. I have been working there for over ten years now and I have enjoyed every single day. This job has been a blessing. Everything came together. The Lord provided amazingly when I had nothing. I stayed joyful even when I had little money. He took care of it. His joy gave me the strength to make it. That difficult experience allowed me to grow in my faith and to always expect that the Lord would come through for me. Consider it pure joy, friend even when it makes no sense and when you feel like crying. You are building faith muscles. Stay strong! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Dealing with anger

We experience negative feelings and bad emotions. We all face bouts of anger and times when we are just negative. It is part of human nature and it is something we can expect at some point. Now, we are invited not to go to bed angry. The Bible clearly states that we shouldn’t go to bed upset. As a kid I didn’t really understand that statement but as I grew older I could see why it is a problem and I have discovered that it is bad in general to let negative feelings and emotions rule our lives. We have to react to them. We can’t be passive and let them be daily visitors. Anger is not our friend. Anger doesn’t help. Anger doesn’t give us anything positive. Sometimes we think that a little anger is good for the soul. I have heard people talk about holy anger or a holy wrath. That type of anger or wrath is for the Lord and taken out of context it can create a doctrine that accepts anger as a welcome part of our lives. Anger should have no room in us. Being upset doesn’t get us any closer to God. God never said we should imitate His wrath. He said we should follow His love and walk in His love. Being mad at someone or being angry in general is detrimental to our spiritual being. Anger is not a spiritual fruit. It is the opposite. It is a bad apple that needs to be taken out of our spiritual basket as soon as it gets there.

Ephesians 4:26 declares, “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” We are encouraged not to give anger free reign in our lives. When anger is fed, it leads us to sin. Anger, like I said before, is not our friend. It is a trait of the enemy that he wishes everyone would have. He is angry all the time. He knows he was defeated by Jesus and people like you and me are very much aware of his defeat and that makes him angry. He is not a joyful foe. He is a bitter conquered enemy and when he rubs his anger on our hearts, we have to put a stop to that bad injection before it contaminates our spirits and leads us to do the wrong things. Anger is not from God. It separates us from God. It isolates us from the Lord. It makes us take steps away from love. Love is not angry. Love doesn’t get upset. Love doesn’t rebuke people. Love is not annoyed and it is never hostile. Hostility is a characteristic of anger. Anger pushes people to be hostile in their words and in their actions. Anger gives us all the wrong words to say free of charge and all the wrong thoughts and ideas. Spend a night in the arms of anger and you will wake up with such negativity that you will not be drawn to talking to the Lord first thing in the morning. You will want to overthink and ruminate over negative thoughts. If the sun goes down and you are angry, chances are the sun will find you angry in the morning when it rises. Put a stop to anger before it runs your night and it ruins your life.

Some people live with anger all the time. There are many reasons why that anger is so anchored in their lives and those reasons are never good. When I find myself angry, I first repent and give it over to the Lord. I do not like being angry. Anger robs me of joy and peace. We can’t be in the joy of the Lord and be angry at the same time. Anger is such a strong feeling that it wins over joy and peace if we don’t have a way to deal with it. I deal with anger through prayer. I pray myself back to peace. The Lord calms me down. The Lord removes anger when I give Him the time of day. I pray against anger in the name of Jesus. I recognize that it is bad and I reject it. I meditate every day on the Word and I find that those moments of silence help me deal with anger. The Lord empowers me when I seek His face and He gives me the power to push anger away. Anger will always show up at our doorstep but it is up to us to react against anger with love. I often speak against anger and thank the Lord for His love that is in me. His love is in all believers. Sometimes we have to unearth it and let it come to life especially when anger is raging and trying to dominate us. Do not give in to anger. Speak against it with authority in the name of Jesus. Remember that anger never leads to anything good and it alienates you from God. Take a stand against anger every day. Walk in peace and let love dominate you. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

God makes (good) things happen

God makes good things happen. God makes breakthroughs take place. God makes the walls of limitations come down. God makes things change for the best. God makes life better. God makes peace come into your life. God makes joy your strength. God makes the impossible possible. God makes all things right. God will make good things happen for you. He is the God of the second chance, of the third chance and of a new chance. The enemy might be creating havoc in your life but God will ruin the plans of the enemy. Trust that God makes good things happen. You are not going to be in a mess forever. God has a plan and it is always good. Good things will happen again. Good things are happening now. God is working in your favor and He is moving mountains as we speak. If you are feeling discouraged today, I am here to remind you that God will make good things happen in your life. He has not forgotten about you and He is not limited in any way. Your breakthrough is on the way. Your new day is coming. Don’t worry. God makes things take place that you never thought could happen. It’s coming. The good is going to replace the bad. Hang in there. God is bringing the positive changes you have been waiting for.

Yesterday morning I woke up with the powerful reminder that God makes good things happen. He is good all the time and He is with us all the time. When we pray to God, we put pressure on the bad things that are happening in our lives. Our prayers are pushing those things out of the way. There is a spiritual battle happening when we pray and God has won that battle. We have to keep praying and keep believing. Good things will materialize and they will transform our lives. I understand what it is to feel demoralized and to feel defeated. Those are negative feelings that the enemy loves to see us experience. He loves pain and suffering. He delights in affliction and robbery. The enemy is a thief but God brings back justice. God restores what the enemy steals. He replaces our grief with gladness and singing. He takes the pain and puts a fresh coat of joy over the walls of our hearts. God makes things right and good again. There is no sadness and no fear that God can’t remove. Keep on praying and keep on praising. You are breaking the hand of the enemy over your life. You are giving God free reign to do what He does best. You are inviting Him to rescue you, to bless you and to change you and your circumstances.

God makes good things happen even when things should be going in the wrong direction. People will even tell you that you are at the end of your rope. People will even feel bad for you because they see there is no hope. Don’t listen to what people have to say unless it is uplifting and encouraging. God is not saying this is the end. God doesn’t believe things will not get better. God doesn’t sit back and let you go through ordeal after ordeal. God is pushing you in the right direction. When things are bad, God is whispering that He is here to make it all better. Pay attention to His voice, to His signs, to His guidance. If you are not hearing anything, open your Bible. His voice will be clear and loud. He has exactly what you need in His Word and what you need is hope. Hope that He will make things good again. He keeps His Word. He is faithful. Good things are in the making in Jesus’ name. You have nothing to worry about. Things are going to get so much better. Just wait and see how God makes good things happen. Stay in faith and stay in peace. God is doing something new in your life!

God is watching over you

God is watching over you. Whether you see it or not. Whether you feel it or not. He is your refuge and your protector. Things happen. Good things. Bad things. Sometimes more bad things than good things. Accidents take place but all these things don’t take away from God’s love for you and how much He cares about you. He has His eyes on you the whole time and He never leaves you nor forsake you. He will do anything for you and He did on the cross. Now it’s your turn to do your part and trust Him and honor Him. God is watching over you all the time and He wants you as close to Him as possible. Do you see Him as a Tower of refuge over you? Do you believe that He is following you and blessing you wherever you go? I do know that lack of knowledge can prevent our faith from advancing. We can’t have faith in what we don’t know. Faith is knowing before anything else. It’s knowing before seeing but the knowing part has to happen. God is watching over you and you should learn more about what it means and what it implies for your life.

In Genesis God said He would watch over us and He would follow us and bring us back to this land. Does He keep His promises? He certainly does. He is still watching over us today, following us and bringing us back to this land. What land is He talking about? “This land” can be seen as a promised land. A land where there is peace and freedom. A place of victory. A place of triumph. When God is watching over you, He is making sure that you are fine and that you are protected. Life happens and things can go wrong but He is still around and He won’t leave you until things are good again. That is a truth that you should hold on to and meditate over. If there is one thing you should get out of this message, it’s that God is staying with you through thick and thin and He will always get you out of your worst situations. He is not a God who leaves when the going gets tough. He gives a hard time to what is giving you a hard time. He gets in the way of what gets in your way.

Isn’t it reassuring that God is following you everywhere you go? That means that you can always call on Him and rely on Him. No matter where you find yourself, God is there. No matter what situation you encounter, God is there. No matter who is against you, God is there. You don’t have to fear or to worry about anything because you are being followed. You are being watched by the creator of the universe. He is not watching you to judge you but to shelter you and to help you. God is with you when you go to bed and with you when you wake up and go on with your day. There isn’t a single moment that the Lord isn’t with you during the day. Keep that in mind. Let that sink in. Make that the foundation of your belief system. Believe in the God who never leaves you nor forsake you.

God’s Spirit is with you and watches you. He will counsel you and guide you. He knows how to direct you and assist you. Develop a strong relationship with the Holy Spirit. He will talk about Jesus and remind you of the Scriptures. He will whisper God’s love to you and breathe peace into you. He will remind you that God can do all things and that He created you for a reason. He will always point you in the right direction. The Holy Spirit is the Watcher and the Counselor that you need. My prayer is that you trust that the Lord is watching over you, assisting you and blessing you along the way.

The power of your testimony

What does your life say about you? What does your life say about God? What is your testimony? Are you aware that you have a testimony? There is a story that is told through your actions, your words and your thoughts. It is a story that is apparent to the world. The sum of who you are is displayed in that story every day. People are watching, people are taking notes, people are listening to what your testimony has to say. You have the power to make a testimony that praises the Lord or that mirrors the world. Choose the story God wrote for you and live it out. You have a powerful testimony and it is time you let the world see it and read it. What happens to you is not what makes you but how you react and interact with what happens to you is what you are made of. You are a child of God that has the DNA of the Father and you can act, think, love, walk, speak like your Father. You can choose to be like Him or you can choose to be your own person and forge a personality that is not what He wants for you. Today I am here to remind you that you have a powerful testimony and you can choose to lean on the Spirit of God and be the person the Lord designed you to be. Remain in God and He will remain in you. Fill yourself up with the Lord and your testimony will give Him glory. Stick with what truly matters and what truly mattes is that Jesus is glorified through your daily testimony.

I love how the Bible reveals that the testimony of two witnesses is true. God has a plan for you and when you agree with His plan and you trust Him, you become the second witness and the plan is true. Your life is powerful lives when it is God-centered. God has already seen how powerful your life was. He is the number one witness. Now, He is waiting on you to be the second witness and to verify that what He said in His Word about you was true. You and I are the second witnesses. We can testify by staying in line with the Word and staying in faith. Friend, let your life speak about how good God is. Let your life echo God’s kindness. Let your life tell the world that God loves everyone and that He can give peace, joy and freedom. Stand up in the court of life every day and be that second witness that confirms what God’s Word says. Be a witness to God’s greatness. Be a witness to God’s holiness!

The word of your testimony allows you to triumph in life. What you say matters. What you say has power. You can curse and you can bless. You can bring peace or you can bring chaos into your life with your words. Therefore, it is important to know that you are constantly giving an account of your testimony when you speak. When you glorify the Lord through your words, power is released into your life. Praising and worshiping Him through your words and actions are very great ways of giving a positive testimony that honors God. The world needs your positive testimony. The world needs your words of affirmation and your words of hope. What you present to the world goes a long way. Don’t underestimate the power of your testimony. Sound the horn of joy with your actions and your words. Be the reflection of the Lord that the world longs for.

You can be under scrutiny and under a lot of pressure when you bear testimony to the Lord. Not everyone accepts what you tell them and how you shine Jesus into the world. However, the Lord warned us and said that it would happen and He also said we shouldn’t be afraid when persecution takes place. You have to stand firm and keep your testimony strong. Life will try to change the narrative but with the help of the Holy Spirit you can continue to speak of the goodness of God and be the witnesses that don’t waver and that don’t faint under pressure. God has an army of angels that will always assist you. When you stay in faith, everything always works out for the best. Let your testimony be seen every day. Praise the Lord and rejoice over Him always! Stay encouraged!
