Hold on tight

I was driving home the other from visiting a friend and it was raining hard. There were pockets of rain and then no rain at all. In the spots with no rain you could have thought that it had never rained. Then there were areas with a lot of rain and it was bad. I had to hold on to the wheel tighter. The road was slippery but the good grip on the wheel helped. This whole experience made me think about how in life we are all driving on the road of life and there are storms at times and at times it is all nice and dry. What we have to do is to hold on tight and we can make it to our destination. Hold on to the wheel of life. Jesus is the wheel of my life. When I hold on to Him, I don’t slip and don’t get into an accident. He allows me to stay on the road of life and to keep going. The rain storms show up in my life when I least expect them but they don’t put a damper on my spirit because I have Jesus. I have the One who keeps me strong and who protects me from all storms. The rain can be daunting and it can make everything look bleak but there are always patches of blue skies on the horizon.

When I was driving the other day, I saw the blue sky in the distance. I got a glimpse of the sun.  It was as if hope were whispering to me that it was not going away. It was telling me that it was always there and sometimes we have to look beyond the clouds to see the ray of hope and the ray of sunshine. The sun never goes away. The same is true about Jesus. He is beyond the clouds but He is also with us when we go through clouds and through the rain. I love how He drives around with us and He gives us hope while we are cruising through life. He sits with us in our car and He keeps us calm. He reminds us that there is nothing to worry about. He tells us that the rain will stop and the bad conditions are only temporary. He is the most faithful companion. The most faithful travel companion and He loves it when we acknowledge Him and we talk to Him. Friend, I say this often but I want to encourage you again to talk to Jesus. Talk to Him when it is sunny. Talk to Him when there is a rain storm. Just talk to Him as often as you can. He will keep you safe on the road. He is always looking out for you.

When I was driving the other day, I also noticed that with the stronger grip I was able to maintain my speed. The Lord does that as well. When you hold on tight to Him, you can keep moving and you can keep going without slowing down. You are safe and secure and you can go places. You have the blessed assurance that come what may, you will make progress and there are blue skies coming your way. If you are going through some heavy rains today, hold on tight, friend. Jesus is the best One to rely on in all kinds of weather and this rain of problems will not deter Him. You have blue skies, light, hope and blessings driving with you. Don’t you forget that! Hold on tight to the truth knowing that the truth is that your God will not leave you and He will not forsake you. Don’t get discouraged. Hold on to the King of Kings! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!
