“May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.” This is how Psalm 20 starts. This first verse sets the tone for the powerful message that David shares with us. It is a prayer at first that every single believer can use.The prayer is encouraging and it speaks to David’s faith. David knew God intimately and He knew how to talk about Him. He was close to the heart of God and he gleaned a lot of wisdom from the Lord. I have been studying Psalm 20 for a few days and every time I read it, I marvel at the greatness that it presents. It talks about the greatness of God. If you look closely at the prayer part of the Psalm, you will see that David mentions things that God can do and he is asking the Lord to bless the reader. What does His greatness entail here? It entails help in times of trouble, granting our requests and giving us the desires of our hearts. If you are in distress today, call on the name of the Lord. If you are in need, call on the name of the Lord. God will bless you, assist you and there will be much rejoicing to be had when the victory comes.
God is a God of help. He is not a being sitting on a cloud far away from us. He is closer than we think and He is with us at all times. He is interested in our lives and He is always waiting for us to call on Him. Sometimes we face troubles and the last Person we turn to is God and we wonder why things are not improving. David invites us to call on the Lord for help. He has all the help we need and He can do amazing things. When you are in distress, we should have God’s number on speed dial. I remember a time many years ago when I was at a loss. I didn’t know what to do to get out of a bind and I asked everyone I knew before I asked God. I trusted people more and that was my mistake. I thought that maybe God would answer me but maybe He wouldn’t. Since David, Jesus came and conquered death. Jesus was the answer to our every prayer. Will God answer you when you pray? Yes, He will because He already did. He answered with Jesus. Think about that. The answer to every prayer you will ever say is Jesus and Jesus is all set. He did what He had to do and settled all matters for good.
God will answer you when you are in distress, friend. It is the truth and you should adhere to it. You don’t have to go around the neighborhood to find an answer. The answer is right there by your side. The answer is in you. Jesus gave you His Spirit to remind you that He took care of everything and you have absolutely nothing to worry about. The name of the Lord protects you. Use His name against any attack whether physical or spiritual. David’s prayer has come true. You are answered when you are in distress. God protects you. God gives you the desires of your heart and God grants you your requests. All this happens when you stand in faith. The Lord makes your plans succeed. The Lord gives you reasons to shout and celebrate Him. Repeat what David said. He said that the Lord gives victory to the anointed. You are the anointed. The victory is yours in Jesus’ name. Trust in the name of Jesus and not in idols or in the creation. You are a child of God and as one of His children, you deserve all that He has to offer. What He offers is answers to your prayers and comfort when you are in distress. Remember that Jesus is always the answer. He is the answer to everything. You can rely on Him in everything. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!
