Don’t give up on your dreams

We all have dreams. When I was a kid, my dream was to become a pilot. I had that dream for a while until I realized that I didn’t have what it takes to be a pilot. I was not good at Maths. I am now glad that I never became a pilot. I like flying but I couldn’t do it all the time. My dreams changed when Jesus became my Savior. God instills dreams in us. Some seem to be our own dreams and some are so big that we know they are coming from God. Those big and intimidating dreams shouldn’t be ignored and they shouldn’t be put aside. As believers, we have the Holy Spirit in us and He inspires us. I think that sometimes we get scared of the dreams that are born in our hearts and we don’t pursue them. How do you know if a dream is inspired by the Spirit of God? If the dream glorifies the Lord, if it is impregnated with love, if it is about advancing the Kingdom of God in any way, it is from His Spirit. Dreams that center around fame and self-promotion are not from God. Can you think of a dream that God has put in your heart? You might have had God-inspired dreams in the past. Today is the day you should revive those dreams. Today is the day you should search your heart for God’s dreams. Today is the day you should wake up the dreams that are dormant and the ones that have never been explored. If they seem too good to be true, it doesn’t mean that they won’t be fulfilled. It just means that you might have to adjust the volume of your faith and turn it up a bit. God is with you and He wouldn’t give you dreams that He won’t help achieve.

It is important to remember that God-inspired dreams give God the glory. They are from Him and He should get all the credit for them. God has inspired many people through the centuries. Believers and non believers. A lot of the things we have today in our societies are results of the dreams that were pursued. Those who had the dreams were tenacious and they kept going. Think about how electricity came about. Think about modern technology and its progress. Many inventions were dreams that were lived out and chased after. There are millions of dreams in the world today that need an awakening. You have dreams in you that can have an impact on your world. An impact from God. You are a vessel and the dreams are the conduit the Lord can use to make a change in someone’s life. Focus on the dreams that will change someone’s life or that will spread positivity. Those dreams will come alive when you write them down, when you dream with them and when you intend to give them the wings they need to fly and land on someone’s lap. Your dream can make someone happy today. Your dream can build someone up and tear down negativity. I like the idea of having “Jesus dreams.” Those dreams are so Jesus centered that they help promote Him and introduce Him to the world.

I am not saying that you should go on a mission around the world. That could be a dream for sure but ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you can touch people’s lives and make that your dream. You can dream to see peace, to see people’s lives turned upside for the best. You can dream of a revival in the land. You can dream of new inventions that will bless people. Anything that is positive and that can move people closer to Jesus is a great dream to have. You can even dream of becoming  a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, a salesperson, a clerk. Your job is not what is important. What is important is how you are going to do your job for the Lord. Do it to bless others. Do it to lift up the Lord. Dream big and dream for Jesus. Let the goal be to preach the gospel through your words, your actions and your deeds. Dream big! When you dream with God, you dream of the most incredible things. They say that your dreams are not big enough if they don’t scare you. I say that your dreams are not big enough if they don’t require an act from God. He will act in your favor and He will assist you. Hold on to your big dreams. Don’t give up. Keep praying. Keep believing despite the naysayers and the doubts that will come to you. God put dreams in you for a reason. Stay encouraged!
