The power of Jesus

When Jesus was on earth, He demonstrated the power of God. He walked the earth as a man who was highly anointed by the power of God. The Holy Spirit moved in His life mightily. He fulfilled what had been announced in Isaiah 61:1. He actually even proclaimed it Himself. He said “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” I read that only the prophet, the priest and the king had been anointed before Jesus and no one else. Jesus started a new trend. A trend you and I are a part of. You are anointed because you are in Christ.

I have been to churches where the anointing is not present or not mentioned at all. If they talk about it it’s to say that Jesus was highly anointed. He is the most anointed one for sure. However, if you are in Christ and you have the Holy Spirit, you are anointed as well. You are anointed to do what the Lord wants you to do while you are here. You might not be anointed to be a prophet or a pastor but you are anointed to be you. There is a specific anointing for you and when you delve into it and move in it you will succeed. There is a calling on your life and it will be fulfilled in your anointing. I suggest you pray the Holy Spirit reveal it to you. I know this might not be a usual topic for you in church but it is an important one. We can’t ignore it.

I know how difficult it could be to understand the anointing if you have never been told about it. One thing you could do is study how Jesus operated under a powerful anointing. If it is hard for you to grasp that you are anointed, think about how Jesus is still the highly anointed One today. He still has the power to perform miracles and the power to turn any situation around. He is mighty and powerful. This week I suggest you focus on Jesus the anointed One. He is not weak and He is not dormant. His power is alive and well. Don’t get discouraged by anything that comes your way this week. Jesus is anointed and He can break any chains and fight any opposition. You are not alone. The Holy Spirit is in you and the Lord is on your side. Let Him demonstrate His power. Call on Him and see how He is anointed to bind up the broken-hearted and to bring freedom. Stay encouraged! Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever!
